Will of William E. Williams Jackson County, Kentucky WILL BOOK 1, pgs. 33-34
In the name of God Amen. I William Williams being of Sound and disposing
mind
and memory and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life do make and declare
this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, Item second - I give bequeath and devise to my Grand son James W. Williams my home farm except one half of said farm is to be for the exclusive use of my beloved wife Elizabeth Williams during her natural life After her death I will and bequeath all of said home farm with all the rights numbers and appertences to the said farm in anywise appertaining or belonging to have and to hold to him the said farm his heirs and assigns forever She is to have that portion of the farm including the residence. Item third - After my decease I desire that the remainder of all of my lands be equally divided between my Grand children Mary Ell and James Williams and that the portion which may fall to Mary Ell is to be entailed upon her natural life free and exempt from the debts of any husband that she may marry. Item fourth - In the event that one of the heirs should survive the other without any Godly heirs the estate both real and personal shall revert to the exclusive use and benefit of the surviving heir. Item fifth - I give bequeath and devise to my daughter in law S. Elizabeth Williams ten dollars as her share of my estate both real and personal. Item sixth - I devise that my beloved Wife Elizabeth Williams have one half of my personal estate to her sole and separate use during her natural life If then should be anything left at her death I desire that it be equally divided between my two Grand children Mary Ell and James W. Williams. Item seventh - I desire that the Court having legal jurisdiction appoint competent and responsible man as my administrator to close up all of my affairs after death and also suitable and proper Guardians for my Grand children during their minority. Item eight - In the event that myself and wife should survive my Grand children Mary Ell and James W. Williams I desire and will that my estate both real and personal be equally divided between my brothers and sisters and my wife's brothers and sisters. This is my last Will Testament [to its revoking] of all others heretofore made by me. Witness my hand Seal this the 24th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight.
Signed Sealed delivered and published by William Williams as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Subscribing witnesses who subscribed our names hereto in the presence of said Testator (at his special insistance and request) and in the presaence of each other this May 24th 1868.
