26 August 1799


This Indenture made this twenty sixth day of August in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Between William Brockman of the County of Albermarle and State of Virginia of the one part and William French of Madison County and State of Kentucky of the Other part witnesseth that the said William Brockman for and in consideration of the sum of sixty five pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said William French the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted Bargained sold ___ and confirmed and by these presents doth Bargain sell __ and confirm unto said William French and to his heirs and assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred any more or less lying and Being in the County of Madison and State of Kentucky on the waters of Silver Creek and bounded as Followeth to wit Beginning at a forked Sycamore running thence north sixty five degrees east two hundred and fifteen poles to three pines thence south seventeen degrees East three hundred and fifty poles to three black gums thence north eighty four degrees west four hundred and four poles to three pines at a stake thence north nineteen degrees west two hundred and twenty poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the aforesaid tract of Land with its appurtenances To the said William French and his heirs forever and he the said William Brockman Shall and will warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises unto the said William French his heirs and assigns forever against the Claim of him the said William Brockman and all Other persons whatsoever Claimming under him in witness Whereof the said William Brockman hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and date above

I do hereby Certify that this Indenture was produced to me as Clerk of the County of Madison on the twenty sixeth day of May [September] 1799 whcih was proved to be the act and Deed of William Brockman by the Oath of J. Powers Ann Powers and Thomas Brockman witnesses thereto and the same has been duly recorded in my office
