John Adair Esq Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky To all to whom these presents shall come Greetings Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of a Kentucky Land office warrant No. 7318 there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Thomas McSwain a certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred acres by survey bearing date the thirteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty one lying and being in the County of Madison on both sides of the state road also on one of the Main branches of Owsley it being a fork of the Red Lick fork of Station Camp Creek and bounded as followeth To wit Beginning at a sugartree marked T.M.S. and K.C. and two black locust on a clift on the East side of the state Road thence South 71 West thirty two poles to a sugartree dogwood hickory and chesnut oak on a South Hill side in a line of a survey of 257 3/4 acres made for Thomas Shelton thence with said line North 30 West fifty poles to his corner a black walnut and poplar the walnut cut down thence with another of his lines South 60 West at one hundred poles the state Road in all two hundred and twelve poles to his corner a white oak dogwood thence North 30 West ten poles to a stake thence North 60 East at one hundred and twenty eight poles said Road at one hundred and fifty eight poles Wm Harris (corner two chesnut oaks) of his 370 acres survey also corner to McSwains 90 and 55 acre surveys in all two hundred and thirty six poles to a stake in a line of the 90 acre survey eighteen poles from the Beginning corner of the same thence with said line North 40 West one hundred and Eighty two poles to two sugartrees a corner of the 90 acres thence South 50 West at thirty two poles the state Road in all fifty eight poles to a white oak blue ash and Ironwood another corner of the 90 acres thence new lines and with the Clift North 35 West 50 poles to a black walnut and ash thence North 35 West 16 poles to a black walnut and ash thence North 56 West 16 poles to a sugartree and black walnut on the hink of the clift thence North 20 West forty four poles to two sugartrees on marked I.B. and I.C. and black locust John Broadus beginning corner of his 50 acre survey on the west of the state Road thence with Broaduss line East at four poles the state Road at sixty poles passing Broaduss corner two hickories and a sugartree on a hill side in all two hundred and sixty poles crossing Owsleys fork to a maple and poplar in a small drain ___ a white oak standing close by marked T.M.S. thence south crossing Owsleys fork in all two hundred and forty six poles to the Beginning with its apputenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Thomas McSwain and his heirs forever In witness whereof the said John Adair Esq Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hath hereunto set his hand and caused the seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the sixth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two and of the Commonwealth the thirty first
