Bill of Sale, 1 October 1796
Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Brockman of the County of Madison
and State of Kentucky do stand ___ Indebted to William Hamm of the County and
State aforesaid in the Just and full Sum of eighteen pounds nine Shillings and three pence current
money of Kentucky to be paid unto said Hamm on or before the first day of October in
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven it being for value recieved of
him and for the performance of the same I do hereby this day bargain sell and ___ unto
Ham two feather beds and their furniture one sorrel horse four years old with a little
mane and tail Seventeen head of hogs two pots and three dishes and two ___ plates and two
spinning Wheels and one skillet and I do Oblige my self my heirs and assigns to defend the said
Hamm in the peaceable possession of the same against any claim or claims Whatsoever
and Stand Between him and all trouble and losts that he may be at on Account of the same. The
Condition of this Bill of Sale is Such that if the said Brockman do pay the above
eighteen pounds nine shillings and three pence on or before the first day of October in the year
one thousand seven hundred and ninety Seven then this Bill of Sale to be of none effect or
Otherwise to remain good in Law as witness my hand and Seal this first day of October one
thousand seven hundred and ninety Six
