Madison County Will Book 1, pgs. 133-34


In the name of God amen!
I John Hudson of the County of Madison and State of Kentucky being of sound mind and memory do hereby make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all Former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.  First I order and direct my Executors as soon after my decease as practicable to pay off and discharge all the debts dues and liabilities that may exist against me at the time of my decease.  2nd I give and bequeath unto my wife Fanny my home farm containing two hundred and thirty six acres which she is to have her natural life time also to have one thousand Dollars to do as she pleases with and also one good horse and saddle and such furniture that she may wish.  3rd I will that all my children be made equal except my daughter Lydia ___ I will her ten dollars and the remainder of her equal part I will to my son Uriah Hudson in consideration of the money her husband borrowed from the said Uriah Hudson.  I also will my grand daughter Eliza Adams one dollar.  4th I hereby nominate and appoint C.S. Martin my executor.  In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this fourteenth day of August A.D. 1879

At a County Court held for said County on the 6th day of October 1879 the foregoing instrument of writing purported to be the last true will and testament of John Hudson Deceased was produced in open Court and filed and together with the codicil thereto was proven by the act of E.H. Harrison who also proved the attestation of Reubin Monday both subscribing witnesses to the will and codicil Whereupon it is ordered that the same be allowed and established as and for the last true will and testament of John Hudson Deceased and ordered to be recorded which has been done accordingly.
