WIll of James Dowden 27 July 1835 Madison County, Kentucky Will Book F, pages 104-105 I James Dowden of the County of Madison and State of Kentucky being weak of body and in a low State of health do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. 1st I give unto my son Michael Dowden the land and plantation whereon I now live the exception of buildings attached to same and all household and kitchen furniture hereto belonging with two acres of land lying in front of said buildings which I give to my two daughters Sally Kimbrell and Nancy Dowden. I give also to my daughter Nancy Dowden one bed and furniture and cow and calf more than the rest of my heirs who have been given in advance but if my daughters Sally and Nancy heretofore named ___ wish to ___ or lease the buildings devised to them my two daughters may then descend to my son Michael Dowden. It is this my wish and desire that all the balance of my Estate both real and personal after my decease should be sold and the monies arriving from said sale should be equally divided among all my children but in consequence of having given my daughter Polly Reynolds one cow and calf when married in advance more than the rest of my children my wish and desire is that when the money becomes due and collected arising from the sale of my estate not ___ ___ that ten dollars should be retained by the balance of my heirs out of her part. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this 27th day of July 1835. It is also my wish and desire that my son Michael Dowden execute this my last will and testament.
Kentucky, Madison County I David Irvine clerk of the Court for County aforesaid do hereby certify that At a County Court held for Madison County on Monday the 10th day of August 1835. This Instrument of writing was produced in open court and forever to be the last will and Testament of James Dowden Dec'd by the ___ William Walker and James West witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and the same has been done accordingly.
