Gabriel Slaughter Esq Lieutenant Governor and acting Governor of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky To all to whom these presents
shall come Greetings Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of a Kentucky
Land office warrant No. 1360 there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto
James Dowden [assee of James Cummins assee of Joseph Miller
and Joseph Ballew (appears between sentences)] a certain tract or parcel
of land containing fifty acres by survey bearing date the ninth day of April one
thousand eight hundred and eighteen lying and being in the County of Madison on the
waters of Silver Creek and bounded as followeth To wit Beginning at a poplar
black and dogwood standing on the East side of Billys fork of Silver Creek in a line
of a survey of William Bush and corner to James Dowden thence with said old
line of Bush East thirty poles to three white oaks on a rise thence South seven West
one hundred poles to a dogwood and white oak corner and a white oak pointer thence
North eighty three West eighty two poles crossing Billys branch at forty four poles to two
white oaks thence North seven East ninety one poles to two pine and two dogwoods
on the old line of Bush thence East with his line forty two poles to the
Beginning with its apputenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land
with its appurtenances to the said James Dowden and his heirs forever In witness whereof the
said Gabriel Slaughter Esq Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky hath hereunto set his hand
and caused the seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on the nineth day
of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen and of the
Commonwealth the twenty eighth
