"Let us not unman each other, part at once; all farewells should be sudden, when forever."
What a bitter end this is. The contrivances of others to stop the inevitable did exactly what was expected. Justice bent the string where the arrow rests, realeased, and the ground is now drunk with the blood of the game. The once inconcievable has occured, and what induced it is ascribed to the lack of attention to the source, and the blindness to the obvious. Everyone abhors its, and yet, fails to recognize it.The very source of what tears us apart. The game is being held over a fire, with a weak hand, and it will soon give, much like an insect, falling from our hands, into a fire. It's dangling on a thin thread, and it's only a matter of time before it gives way. What has taken place cannot be forgiven. No reconciliation will be necesary. Much like the story of Icarus this is. The similarity is frightening. Inventing, modernizing, finding ways around obstacles, all themes evident in the story of Icarus, and these themes carry over to The Game. But also seen in the story of Icarus, is betrayal, the obsession with reinvention ultimately leads to the death of Icarus, and if all goes according to the story, the same will happen in the game. It no longer belongs to the players, it belongs to the modifications, and cheats, and secrecy, for without that, the players are nothing. |
