| Scott's Musical Debut | ||||||||||||||||||
| After a few weekend practices in Pittsburgh, Scott performed at his friend's Christian coffee house called Shepherd's Inn Cafe. My mom and I had the good fortune of attending the performance which included Christian rhythm and blues and folk songs as well as favorite Christmas tunes. His talent was truly shown as he played acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keyboards and sang (it would have been really impressive if he had played all these at once--ha! ha!). | ||||||||||||||||||
| This past summer has been very eventful for us. We had the opportunity to visit Graceland in Tennessee, Sea World of Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia. In Memphis we got to see the "King" (Elvis), in Ohio we got the chance to touch dolphins, and in Georgia we visited great friends of Nicole's as well as the historical Stone Mountain. The highlight of the year though was our engagement on July 30th. I tried my best to surprise Nicole and planned on proposing to her in a place special to the two of us (near dolphins in Sea World). However, she always seemed to be one step ahead of me. I waited until the next day and typed "Will you marry me?" on her computer and before she saw the message I hid a wrapped package with the ring amongst other gifts. Before I knew what was happening she was unwrapping her unsuspected gift and I was kneeling on one knee. She was ecstatic. |

| Plans for Christmas | ||||||||||||||||||
| As for the holidays...Nicole and I will be going to Virginia the weekend before Christmas to visit friends and family. We will be going to visit Nicole's mommo and poppo in West Virginia for Christmas and hopefully making it up to Buffalo for New Year's. There we will celebrate Christmas with my family. | ||||||||||||||||||
| Near the time of Scott's proposal he was also transitioning from Virginia to Almost Heaven West "by God" Virginia. He had accepted a software position in Morgantown with West Virginia University. Meanwhile, I was beginning to start my job in Garrett County, Maryland as an educator/family service specialist. Scott eventually found a wonderful apartment walking distance from his office and best of all within an hour from me. We both began to attend Chestnut Ridge Community Church in Morgantown and became involved in a wonderful couples' Bible study. On the weekends, we would show our Mountaineer spirit by attending the home football games at WVU. Other fun activities include the Autumn Glory Festival, a halloween costume party, and the Morgantown Hot Air Balloon Festival. Autumn Glory was beautiful in Deep Creek as we were surrounded by the colorful foliage covering mountains. We had the opportunity to attend a craft fair, go to a parade and visit the renovated train station. The costume party was spectacular as well. We experienced a small taste of our upcoming wedding day by dressing as a bride and groom. On other hand, the Balloon Festival was a little disappointing because the weather didn't cooperate. However, we at least got to see a few balloons lit up in the evening. Other activities we have been involved with during the week included me teaching sign language to the disabled and Scott and I attempting speech therapy with a girl with autism. Scott's music abilities have really helped increase her communication skills. For Thanksgiving Day, Scott and I prepared a complete turkey dinner for the two of us and my mom. We had to cancel our plans to Buffalo because of the surprise winter storm. Meanwhile, the snow and ice continues to hammer Garrett County which hopeful will bring us some good ski days this winter. |
