A long time dedicated Apps player who is currently #3 and a true friend both on and off the fields with great of sense
of humor. This special fellow has proven himself to be well respected and overall a fair and honest player. The
following interview is with none other than my best battlefield bud, AL which took place on the evening of
March 11th, 2004 and being submitted for the War Correspondent Award.
GARFIELD: hey AL, thanks for letting me interview you bud
AL: not a problem, glad to do it
GARFIELD: So how are you doing this evening?
AL: im doing just fine, studying up a bit.
GARFIELD: that's good to hear, homework is probably more important than bf lol
AL: just a bit
AL: =)
GARFIELD: alrighty, lets tell us about yourself, how old are you and where are you from?
AL: im seventeen as of february 21. im from a small suburb around houston, tx
AL: been playing battlefield since 99
GARFIELD: wow that's seems forever
AL: lol...a tad
AL: it’s weird. i sucked so much back then, but it was a lot more fun
GARFIELD: heh i think it's true with everyone, we all sucked when we first started :-)
AL: yea times change
GARFIELD: So how did you find about battlefield?
AL: through three friends of mine at school
AL: one day in the gym
AL: they were talking about "deactivating" each other
AL: "and talking about MnM and spikes"
GARFIELD: lol that’s a rare way to discover bf
AL: it sounded fun
AL: so i gave it a go
AL: quite an addictive game i was to find
GARFIELD: totally agreed
GARFIELD: we're all still playing after all these years and never get bored of it
AL: speak for yourself!
AL: a million purples in apps, forget it
AL: =)
AL: nothing like the old days, all sorts of people played
GARFIELD: there’s more maps now and people are playing everywhere
AL: you know, i think part of the reason it was more fun in the beginning was bc of bonus's privacy guidelines
AL: they filtered out a lot of the obscene things people said and really just let you play
GARFIELD: most certainly since this is a child’s game
AL: i owe a lot of fun to them for that
GARFIELD: ya Bonus works hard to keep the game fair
AL: nowadays everyone knows everyone's aim, icq, whatever. trash-talking really isn’t making this game fun anymore
GARFIELD: true it promotes cheating and distribution of hack programs :-(
AL: *sigh* yet ANOTHER thing that ruins the game
AL: i totally understand and sympathize with bonus
AL: it’s hard trying to fight off hackers and stuff
GARFIELD: if only it was a perfect game *sighs*
AL: threes no such thing as a perfect online game
AL: and despite it being not so perfect, i think they still do a good job
AL: for a game that’s free by the way
AL: =)
GARFIELD: lol that’s the part i like
GARFIELD: go Bonus, keep up the good work!
GARFIELD: So anyways, what are your tanks?
AL: well
AL: for a guy playing 5 years now
AL: i have about four i care about
AL: =)
AL: there's AL, Bugz, Azmodan, and hmm…
AL: maybe just three
GARFIELD: cool, nice tanks
AL: not as nice as yours
GARFIELD: lol really...?
AL: yes, mr lightbulb-dot
GARFIELD: *blushes*
GARFIELD: I believe some of them are team tanks is that true?
AL: Bugz was a team tank from D12
AL: and Azmodan as well was from the Demons in Rox
GARFIELD: wow those are pretty good teams
AL: yes they were
AL: i guess that’s an upside to knowing people. teaming up is sometimes fun
GARFIELD: ya you can really learn a lot by being on teams
GARFIELD: Here’s another question for you, what’s your favorite tank?
AL: that’s an easy one
AL: AL's my baby =)
AL: i am, as i said 17, but when i missed my rusty sword on my AL, i almost cried
AL: it'll never happen again on that tank
GARFIELD: sorry to hear =(
AL: that tank stands for everything that was fun in this game
AL: *sigh
GARFIELD: heh i thought so, for someone playing 500 hrs on a tank, i suppose it's their fav
AL: sorry to get so depressed on you
GARFIELD: nah it's alright i understand how you feel ;-)
GARFIELD: well congrats anyways
AL: why thanks. wish you were there
GARFIELD: and plus you got a recognition from Bonus
AL: that was touching.
GARFIELD: not many people get that kind of treatment :-)
AL: but i was planning on being full-filled after the rusty
AL: that's true
AL: but not many people miss out on big 5-oh-oh
GARFIELD: yes, that was a rare occasion for it to happen
GARFIELD: hard to believe it was just a coincidence
AL: tougher to accept
GARFIELD: Anyways do you have any memories of bf since you started playing, like getting your first award?
AL: my first award was too long ago
GARFIELD: really?
GARFIELD: what was it?
AL: it was probably bronze tank on slightlycrooked
AL: on AL it was bronze tank
AL: i should ask bonus i’m sure they have it in their neat, organized records
GARFIELD: yes you should lol
GARFIELD: Do u have any relatives that play this game?
AL: MZ/tiger1
AL: is my cousin
AL: AL/MZ
AL: get it?
GARFIELD: no
GARFIELD: lol j/k
AL: hehe. it's actually our initials
AL: but back to that question
AL: my favorite moment would be
AL: when i got my single star
AL: that or my first cup
AL: on both occasions i jumped to the ceiling
GARFIELD: i bet i would too
GARFIELD: earning a cup is really hard
AL: especially with cheaters
GARFIELD: but recently the lags seems to be bad
AL: bad, but understandable
AL: bonus is trying to even the fields, get rid of the advantage SHer's have
GARFIELD: If you were in charge of battlefield, would you make any changes and if so what would they be?
AL: that's a toughie
GARFIELD: yes it is
GARFIELD: take a deep breath...and take your time =)
AL: i think bonus does as good a job as anyone can for a free game
AL: i think i would try to expand a little
GARFIELD: how so?
AL: and get some endorsements here and there
AL: i don’t know, i’m not a business man
AL: but i totally understand that better servers and stuff
GARFIELD: o hehe i forgot, we are all only kids
AL: won’t come without the funding and when you aren’t selling software like warcraft and stuff, its tough
AL: it’s totally understandable
GARFIELD: ya
AL: if i was bonus i would give honest players like me something
AL: like a dot, or lightbulb
AL: =)
GARFIELD: haha silly AL
AL: but otherwise battlefield has been a really fun time
GARFIELD: Being around for 5+ years is long, do you have any favorite players out on the fields?
AL: my favorite players were winston, shimsco, snearboy, thunder, the rod, and you
GARFIELD: wow it’s so touching for you to name me as one of your fav players *sniffs*
GARFIELD: Down to the wire here, are there any final words or messages that you would like to say to the battlefield community?
AL: definitely a few words out there to 1. Bonus for a great game
AL: and 2. the new guys who want to learn, to keep playing and having fun
AL: that’s how i did it, and it works =)
GARFIELD: well thanks again for this wonderful interview
AL: you're welcome bud
AL: thanks for interviewing me
GARFIELD: no problem, glad to do it, and good luck on the fields!
AL: thanks and take care
GARFIELD: you too
AL: bye
GARFIELD: bye
