Catherine awoke the following day, unsure of how many hours had passed since their adventure on to The Britannica. All Catherine could remember was the fear that filled her veins when she found Gil dead on the catwalk. Those feelings will probably haunt her dreams for the rest of her life. She turned over on her side as the risen sun shinned through the portholes translucent curtains. All she wanted to make sure of was Gil being beside her; alive and breathing.
She traced her fingers down the side of his face feeling the warmth the sun gave on his pale skin. His hazel eyes were shut and his salt and pepper hair was now dry from the ocean water. She watched as his chest rose and fell with every breath he took, memorized by how lucky she was to be with him.
You know, I know youre watching me, Gil mumbled under his breath as a smile crept across his face with his eyes still shut. Catherine just giggled.
Im sorry hunny, I just cant keep my eyes off of you, Catherine replied as she kissed him on the cheek. Quickly Gil grabbed her holding her close and slobbered kisses all over the back of her neck as she fought playfully to get away.
D-do you remember what happened? I mean on the ship,
Sort of, do you?
Sort of too, Gil replied and as he shifted in the bed having Catherine face him once again, What we saw, I mean it was amazing, but at the same time it was fearful, and unimaginable. I think Cathleen made it so we dont remember everything, to protect us.
Well, not everything I forgot when I was there, Catherine replied, she remembered the promise she had made to Cathleen, she now knew that the little girl was watching her from above, so it would be best to do what she promised.
What do you remember? Gil asked as he cuddled closer to his wife cupping her head in his hands and kissing her soft reddened cheeks.
I promised something to Cathleen, I promised that I would tell you something, a secret that I have been keeping from you for awhile, I was planning on telling you while we were on this trip, but our rescue mission of souls kind of threw that off balance.
What are you talking about Catherine? Youre beginning to scare me, does this secret have something to do with us?
Yes, it has a lot to do with us, and Lindsey and Caitlyn. I-Im pregnant. Catherine whispered her eyes trained on Gils, awaiting his response.
Gil was awestruck for a moment; he could not believe what his wife was telling him. Did she just say that she was pregnant? That they were going to have another child bouncing on their knee caps in the household. He did not believe her the first time she announced that to him, out of a fit of rage if he remembered correctly, and then nine months later Caitlyn was in his arms. Now she was pregnant with another child, Gil was not even sure he could aid in conceiving anymore children, he thought he was too old, and just like a womans eggs, his juice had expired.
He smiled broadly at his wife, seeing the apprehension in her eyes. She was scared to tell him at first, she was not sure on how he would be able to handle being told that he would have another child on the way soon. Gil kissed Catherines lips, giving her a tight hug holding her close to him, wanting to make her feel like she was not alone in this any longer.
Thats amazing Catherine, I love you so much, Gil whispered into her ear kissing her cheeks again, he could feel the warm tears shedding from her eyes hitting his lips. She was crying tears of joy.
I love you too Gil, I didnt think that this would happen again, I didnt think, I guess we just didnt think. I havent told anyone back home yet, not even the kids know, I wanted to tell you first, but make the announcement special, for Caitlyns wasnt. So I thought this would be the perfect time, make a trip using our anniversary as a disguise, and then last night, I would have had a beautiful dinner and told you, but as you know, my plans got a little put off. Catherine replied and frowned, remembering what has happened.
Its okay hun, I understand, and I didnt need a fancy dinner and an amazing trip for this to be special, anytime a new life is brought into the world is special enough. Im just curious on how the team is going to react to this, I mean this will be the second time they will have to deal with a hormonal woman eventually confined to the walls of the lab barking orders and breaking down for no apparent reason. Im sure they are not looking forward to that.
I dont get like that; do I really get like that?
Gil nodded his head, Catherine, you act sometimes ten times worse then when its your time of the month, I mean it is out of your hands, its your body not your mind. We will just all have to suffer for the next nine months together. Plus, you have a toddler at home; Im scared to know what this is going to turn out to be like.
Just for saying that, I will make sure I treat you extra bitchy, Catherine replied and smacked Gil with a pillow giggling like a school girl.
Hey! Thats not fair, Gil replied batting her back with one, Why not take out that bent up hormones on Greg, he suggested as he got another pillow in the face.
Hmm, thats actually not such a bad idea, maybe I will, I better warn Sara about having an upset boyfriend for the next while. Catherine announced.
Gil was about to hit his wife back with the pillow when he stopped, Sara and Greg are dating? he questioned as Catherine nodded her head and slammed the pillow right across his face knocking him off the bed.
Happy Anniversary darling,
