| Chapter 9
"Umm ok, well I take it you want to go first." Dillon said as I sat down at one of the plush, crimson booths. "Yea, it would probably be best, that way I don't chicken out." I whispered as I took a deep breath, urging my nerves to settle down. "Go on." He said as he took a chair off of the closest table and straddled it, leaning his arms on the back. "Ok, ummm, Guy and I aren't dating." I said quickly, before I could back down. "What? Did he break up with you? Is that why you ran out of here like you did earlier?" He asked, his voice raising with anger as he stood up from his chair. "Did they leave you here?" "No, I told them to go without me, but that's not the point. No, Guy didn't break up with me tonight..." "You broke up with him?" He asked with a hint of hope in his voice. "No, just stop interrupting me." I shouted as the rain outside came down harder, causing an almost deafening surge of noise. "Ok, sorry." He said as he sat back down. "Guy didn't break up with me, and...and I didn't break up with him." I said as I looked down at my hands and then back up to Dillon who had a look of pure confusion written all over his face. "I...we were never dating." I looked to him for a reaction. "I don't...I don't get it. So did the two of you just like decide to hook up whenever you wanted. You know, one of those 'No String's Attached" no commitment deals. I knew you were hurt but I didn't think you would just casually get with someone." He said as a look of pure disgust registered in his features. "Excuse me?" I asked, shocked. "You know, one of those careless relationships that are completely meaningless." He said as anger flashed in his eyes. "Yea I do know, but that is only because I have witnessed it from you. Isn't that what you and Sage had? Or were there actually feelings behind it. An easy lay, maybe?" I asked as lightning flashed, followed closely by a deep rumble. "I can't believe you just said that." He yelled. "Well I can't believe you would think that about me. You know I am not like that, I am not like her!" I screamed as lightning flashed sending white light pouring in through the windows. I jumped up and threw the table cloth and his coat down on the ground. "I knew I shouldn't have come back, but I wanted to tell you the truth." I said as I went to walk away but he grabbed my arm. "Get off of me, don't EVER touch me again." I yelled as I jerked my arm out of his hand and ran out the doors. "What the hell am I supposed to think." Dillon yelled as he came out the doors, close on my heels as we both ran into the street that was deserted due to the hour of night. I turned around to face him as the rain came down in a fury. "I don't know, but why did you have to jump to the worst possible conclusion. That really hurts." "You lied to me! You told me you two were dating, but now you're telling me that you never did. What really happened?" He yelled as he stood there waiting for me to say something "We pretended to be dating to make you jealous and so I wouldn't look like some loser." I said feeling completely defeated and that really pissed me off. "What did he get out of it?" Dillon asked as his eyes widened and another bolt of lightning seemed to hit right next to us. Neither of us moved. "What?" "You can't tell me that he did all of this out of the goodness of his heart." He spat out as if it disgusted him and made him sick just saying it. "Not everyone is in it for sex. He was only helping me." I yelled over the thunder that was sounding off in the distance. Making sure that it's presence was known. "Right." You really don't believe me?" I asked defiantly "Nope, considering everything you have been saying these last few months has been a lie." "And you're one to talk?" "You have no idea what I have been going through since we broke up." He yelled hurt as he stared coldly at me. "Yes, because having sex with Sage, and listening to your family have another pointless fight is sooo hard." I said as I rolled my eyes. "You would think that. The funny thing is, is that is nothing like how things have been with me, but you wouldn't know that because you were too busy getting whatever you could from Guy!" "You better start talking before I kick your ass for saying that." I said as I clenched my fist at my sides. "For one, I haven't even talked to Sage in about 3 months. I quit working for Lorenzo and I got a job working at the theater so I could get the money I needed to move out on my own. Remember when I told you I was talking to the counselor because he was harping at me because of my grades?" "Yea" "Well it was about my grades, I was figuring out how I could make up the work and bring my grades up. Em helped me and then I got this job." He said as the rain started coming down harder, stinging what bare skin that wasn't covered. "Is that why you are never around anymore?" I asked as I remember thinking that he was just ignoring me. "Yea, I set it all up so I wouldn't have much free time to do anything besides eat and sleep." "That is all good and wonderful, but why are you telling me this now? I can't just forgive you for sleeping with Sage because you got a few jobs. You really hurt me." I yelled as tears of frustration fell from my eyes, mixing with the rain running down my face. "I did all of that for you! I wanted to show you that I was willing to change for you. Do you think I didn't know that I hurt you? It killed me, knowing what I did to you, and the pain I caused you." He said as his voice caught in his throat, his eyes softened from angered and hurt to dull and lifeless. "What are you saying?" "I'm saying that I am sorry. I've learned from it, and I have honestly changed. I want you back...no...I need you back. Georgie I love you, and I never stopped loving you." He said as my whole body tingled, hearing him say that. I stood motionless, unable to move or speak, just staring at him as he too cried. His tears, like mine, mixing with the rain and running down his face and dropping onto his lips. "I..." I started as I heard screeching and a bright light flashed in front of me. "Georgie!!." Dillon yelled as I closed my eyes and waited for the inevitable. |
