Young girl, don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl, it's all right
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly

"Why are you doing this to yourself?" I asked as I sat down in a chair by Georgie's desk, leaning my elbows on my knees and looked down at her.

"Doing what?"She asked not really giving anything much thought at the moment.

"G, you've been doing sit ups for the past 30 minutes and we just got done running." I said incredulously.

"Running alone isn't doing anything so I'm adding in some more." She said as she continued to pull herself up with each set.

"We just ran 5 miles. You're pushing yourself too hard!" I said as she sat up and looked at me frustrated.

"Look you said you would help me, if you don't want to then just go." She said as she went back to doing more sit ups. Her body hadn't been able to relax after running and now she looked pale almost sickly.

"I'm not going to help you kill yourself!" I said a little louder than I meant to.

When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

"What?" She asked as she sat up again, this time letting out a small groan before she clutched her sides. After the pain seemed to pass she looked up at me wide-eyed. "I'm not killing myself."

"Well you sure as hell aren't making yourself any better. You don't think I see it?" I said as Georgie looked away but I cupped her face in my hands and gently brought her head back to look at me.

"See what?" She asked defeated.

"You hardly eat anymore, and when you do eat it is like you are forcing yourself to swallow the food. You had a granola bar before we left but you haven't ate since. And now you are pushing yourself by doing all of these sit ups when you haven't even given your body time to adjust to the heavy running you just did. I think I already know the answer, but why are you doing this?" I asked as a tear fell down Georgie's cheek.

When there's no one else
Look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend
Just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength
That will guide your way
If you will learn to begin
To trust the voice within

"You wouldn't understand." She said as she wipped the tear away and pulled her knees up to her chest, resting her head on them.

"Try me."

"You're gorgeous. You're good-looking, sweet, you actually give a damn about others and you are hilarious. You're perfect!"

"Yea and I'm gay. As much as everyone likes to think, being gay, still isn't very socially exceptable. I don't go around flashing it to everyone that I like guys, instead of girls. But when people find out, it's hell." I said. "But you still haven't answered my question. Why are you doing this?"

Young girl, don't hide
You'll never change if you just run away
Young girl, just hold tight
And soon you're gonna see your brighter day

"Do you really think I can compete with Sage looking like this?" She asked as she motioned at herself with disgust.

"Going on looks?" I asked as she nodded. "Not anymore. When I first met you a couple months ago you were beautiful. You were vibrant and energetic, but you were hurt. Now you're just hurt. You're running your body down and you are making yourself sick. You've lost your color and you look constantly tired. G, not eating right and exercising like this is slowly killing you."

"Yea, but it is working. I've already lost 15 pounds." She said somewhat pleased.

"Can you honestly tell me that you would rather look like this than how you used to. You didn't need to lose any weight. After everything that you said about Sage, now you are trying to look like her?" I asked as I got angry and stood up and walked towards her dresser. I picked up a mirror and walked back over to Georgie and held the mirror in front of her face. "Do you honestly like what you see?"

Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed
It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold
When you're lost outside look inside to your soul

"No!" Georgie said as she covered her face with her hands as sobs racked her small body.

"G, please stop this. It's scaring me." I said as I sat down in front of her and pulled her agaisnt me as she cry on my shoulder.

"It still hurts so much. Everytime I see him and Sage it just feels like there is a knife in my stomach that is slowly being shoved in further and further." She said as he voice cracked.

"It's going to hurt for a long time. It's only been a couple months. You are so much better than they are, don't prove me wrong and let them win by doing this to yourself. You don't need to change a single thing about you, but if you honestly want to make yourself healthier than I will help you. Look at me." I said as she pulled back and stared up at me. I wipped the tears from her cheeks and lightly kissed her forehead. "I'll be with you every step of the way, but you have to listen to your heart."

"All I can hear is my heart breaking into more and more little pieces every day." She said as I wrapped my arms around her again.

"This isn't going to stop right away. It will take time and eventually it will be so dull that you might forget it is there. But do you honestly believe that Dillon doesn't love you anymore?" I asked as she started crying harder. I pulled her closer to me and gently ran my hands through her hair.

"How could he, and still be working for her and her uncle?" She said in between sobs.

"I don't know, why don't you ask him."

Yeah...
Life is a journey
It can take you anywhere you choose to go
As long as you're learning
You'll find all you'll ever need to know

"You can't run from him forever, and whether you are looking for answers or closure, you need to talk to him." I said as her crying became less and less until she stopped altogether.

"I don't think I can." She said as she pulled back and sat infront of me picking at imaginary fuzz on the carpet.

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself. These pity parties are not your style." I said as she laughed and smiled for the first time in what seemed like months.

"I'm afraid of what he'll tell me. I'd rather just think he is in love with Sage then to have him confirm it for me." She said as her face fell.

"I highly doubt that he is in love with her." I said honestly. I didn't know Dillon very well but I could tell by the way he looked at Georgie whenever he was around her.

(Be strong)
You'll break it
(Hold On)
You'll make it
Just don't forsake it because
No one can stop you
You know that I'm talking to you

"Look, Dillon is in love, but it isn't with Sage. You need to face these demons or you're never going to be able to over come this." I said as I leaned back agaisnt the chair behind me. Georgie ran the back of her hands over her cheeks drying the trails her tears had created.

"Do you really think I can?" She asked quietly as she looked at me like I was her only remaining link in the world.

"Of course I do! If anyone can do this, you can." I said as I stood up.

"I don't even know where to start." She said as she looked around like she was lost in the middle of the ocean and didn't know which way to swim.

"First, we are going to go downstairs and get something to eat. Then you are going to take a shower because you stink." I teased as I made a face at her. She stuck her tongue out at me in rebutal. "Then if you're ready, call Dillon and talk to him, or meet him at Kelly's. If you need me I'll be right here." I said as I extended my hand down to her. She slowly placed her hands in mine and I pulled her up off the floor.

"Remind me to thank my sister for introducing us. I don't know what I would do without you." She said as she hugged me again, but this time it felt different. There was a change in her: A very good change.

"If I have any say in the matter, you'll never have to find out. I'll always be here." I said as I kissed her forehead one more time before we headed out of her room, ready to face the world: Together.
