Chapter 5

Mac took us all out to eat at a nice italian restaurant and Dillon and I had talked quietly and unnoticed and decided that we would break the news once we got back to the house. On the way home I started to feel a little nauseous. I knew it was just from the five of us being crammed into Mac's car, and my nerves all bundled up so I fought with my stomach the whole way home. Staring out the window so no one would notice my sudden change. Once we got home I was trying to think of a way to work our news into the conversation when mom saved me the trouble.

"So what was it that you wanted to tell Mac and I?" Mom asked curiously. Mac looked back and forth between Mom and I. I hadn't even mentioned anything to him..

"Umm well," I said as I sat up on the sofa, Dillons hand tracing small soft circles on my back. I had told him that I wanted to be the one to tell them, that I wanted him their for back-up and/or moral support. "I don't really know how to say this but..."

"Say what? Georgie what is going on?" Mom asked worried, she sat up in her seat. I stood up.

"Well..." I started to say but before I could say anything else, I carelessly let my hand fall to my stomach. I hadn't even realized what I did until I saw shocked expressions on all three of their faces, then I looked down to my hand resting on my slightly expanded belly and I knew that I had just answered all their questions. Every question that I had avoided for the last month and a half was now answered.

"Oh my God." Was all that Maxie said. Was all that anyone said. I sat back down next to Dillon and laced my fingers with him as I held me head up and looked back and forth between each of them.

"How far along are you?" Mac said through clenched teeth.

"Almost five months."

"Five.....five months."Mac said as he looked like someone had just kicked him right in the throat, like he couldn't breath, as if the wind was being sucked out of him.

"Dillon, how could you do this? After I trusted you with Georgie. She is my daughter how could you do this?" He asked furiously.

"Listen, I am sorry that this had to happen at this point in time, but I am in no way sorry that it happened. For all it is worth to you we used protection and Georgie was on the pill." Dillon said standing up.

"She is 17 years old." Mac said as he grabbed Dillon's shirt in his fist.

"Stop it!" Maxie, mom and I all yelled at once as we jumped to our feet. I jumped in between the two of them so Mac wouldn't do anything he would later regret.

"Mac stop it, Dillon wanted to tell everyone the moment we found out, but I didn't want to. I wanted to hide it until I couldn't anymore. So if you want someone to yell at, yell at me." I said as I stood infront of him looking him in his eyes.

"Stop it, everyone." Mom said as she came over to where we were standing.

"What? Are you just going to act like this isn't a big deal? You can't do that this time Felicia." He said.

"Get over yourself Mac." Maxie said as she walked over to where we were all standing.

"Excuse me?" He asked looking over at her.

"Look you can either be an jerk about it or you can accept it and get over it, either way it is going to happen.  You decide how you want to be in this equation. Because I am sure it won't take much for Dillon and Georgie to leave and not come back. Do you want to never see her again. Do you want that on your conscience" Maxie said. It amazed me how she was willing to stick up for Dillon and I. After all the arguments and as much as she didn't like Dillon she still stuck up for us.

"She is still 17, she can't just leave, I won't allow it." He said looking back at me.

"Yea, but she will be 18 in a few weeks, so what are you going to lock her in her room until then. Not let her see him, not let her go anywhere?" She asked

"I just can't believe this. Felicia you have been awfully quiet this whole time." He said directing his cold stares at her.

"Mac, Maxie is right. We can either accept it and be happy for them or kick them out and never see them again, and I am not about to do that. I almost lost Maxie years ago, I am not about to lose Georgie." Mom said as she came over to me and hugged me, her tears soaking through my shirt. I knew that she wasn't happy about it, but she was willing to forgive me and that was all that mattered.
