| Chapter 24 "The rest is up to you Georgie. Whenever you feel the urge to push, do so and lets bring your baby girl into this world, alright?" Dr. Taylor asked as she sat down on a stool at the bottom of the bed. "Ok, can I sit up?" I asked as Mac took a washcloth and wiped the sweat off my forhead and neck. "Honey, you can sit up, you can stand up you can do whatever you want." The doctor said as she giggled. I raised myself up on the bed as Dillon put the pillows behind me. I grabbed a hold of both his and Mac's hand as I started pushing. "Push Georgie, push!" Mac said as he kept looking from me to the doctor. "I don't know what you're doing, but she's coming pretty fast, just give me another really good push." The doctor said as I pushed my chin to my chest and squeezed my eyes shut. For the first time since I had known him, Dillon was completely speechless. He just held onto my hand with both of his hands, helped me sit up and watched everything unfold in front of him. "I can see her head. Now listen Georgie, I just need to get her shoulders out and then the rest of her body will come right out, so I only need one more BIG push. You ready." She asked as she looked back up at me. I took a deep breath, gathered what strength I had left in me and pushed with every ounce of energy I possessed. Once I finished pushing, Mac, Dillon and I all held our breaths until finally there was a tiny yet loud cry. I fell back on the bed and covered my face with my hands as I let all the emotions bottled up in me, flow out in a downfall of tears. "You are amazing, I love you. Oh my God she's finally here." Dillon whispered into my ear as he kissed the side of my face over and over again. I didn't even look up at him, I just threw my arms around him and cried into his shoulder. When he pulled away tears were also cascading down his cheeks. "I love you too." Was all I could say. I looked over at Mac who was also crying and kissed my forehead. "You did great, honey." "Would you like to see your baby girl? We got her cleaned up but we need to take her to the nursery. You want to see her real quick." The nurse asked as she brought her, all bundled up in a little pink blanket over to us and placed her in my arms. She was so beautiful. Her eyes were still shut and she didn't have hardly any hair. "What do you want to name her?" Dillon asked as he gently ran his finger over the top of her head and then down he soft cheek. "Emma! Emma Marie Quartermaine." I said as I looked up at him. He looked like he couldn't have stopped smiling if his life depended on it. "I love it, it's perfect." He said as he bent down and lightly kissed my lips and then kissed Emma's forehead. "We need to take her to the nursery to get her completely cleaned up and changed, but she is perfectly healthy so she should be able to stay in the room with you until you both are released." Dr. Taylor said as a nurse came over and carefully took Emma and placed her in a small baby bed that a nurse wheeled out of the room. "I will be back to check on you once more before you are released. I will probably allow you to be released in 24 hours." "Ok, thank you so much." Mac said as he smiled over at her and then looked down to me. "Your mom will be so proud of you." "Can you go call her and tell her?" I asked as I started to feel really sleepy. "Yea, I'll get a hold of her. You just rest." He said as he squeezed my hand before leaving the room. "Go tell everyone that is waiting. They are probably fighting over who will see her first so go out there and tame them." I said to Dillon as I laughed lightly. "Ok, Mac's right, you need to rest." Dillon said as he kissed me before also walking out of the room. |
