| Chapter 23 ~~~~~~~~~~2 Hours Later~~~~~~~~~~ "Georgie, you are doing great!! You are dialated to six centimeters and you are at negative one station. You will probably dialate about one centimeter an hour, that is normal for first time mothers." Dr. Taylor said as she looked down at me. "Have you decided whether or not you want an epideral? We need to decide now because once you are at seven centimeters we can't give one to you." "Yea, I want one. This pain is too much!" I said as I held onto Dillon's hand. Dr. Taylor nodded her head with a smile and walked out of the room. My mom still hadn't made it here yet. Maxie had gotten here about an hour ago. Bobbie had called down to Kelly's and told her and Lucas to close early so they could get here. The door opened and Emily and Nikolas walked in. "Look at you!" Emily said as she ran over to me and hugged me. Her and Nikolas had realized that their love for one another was to strong to ignore. Zander and Gia had since moved in together and had a one year old little girl named Kendra. They had remained friends, not the best of, but still friends. "Hey, how are you doing? How was the doctors appointment?" I asked as Dillon and Nikolas walked outside to give us a few minutes. "It was great. It looks like I've beaten this!! Nikolas and I were out celebrating at The Grill when Ned called. Ned told us that you still had a while so we finished our dinner and changed before coming. Do you need anything?" She asked as she smiled bightly at me. "No I'm fine, they are going to be giving me an epideral soon so I will be great then!!" I said as she laughed. "Well I'm going to go but I'll be right outside so if you need anything just yell for me!" She said as she stood up. "Ok, but you don't have to stay. There may be a couple more hours before anything happens." I said as I sat up as a contraction started to build up. "Are you kidding? I'm not leaving till I get to see my baby cousin. I'll go get Dillon." She said as she walked out of the room. Dillon came back in about a minute later followed by the anesthesiologist. "Are you ready for the epideral?" The man asked as he pulled in a cart with different medical instruments on it. "More than anything." I said as I sat up. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Dillon asked as he looked over at the cart and saw the needle that they would use. "You're not sticking THAT in her are you?" He asked with a horrified look on his face. "Yea." The man said as he laughed. "If you think you can hadle it we could use your help." He said as he looked at Dillon. "I can handle it." Dillon said. "All right, then grab that stool over there. Mrs. Jones, I'm going to need you to sit on the side of the bed with your back facing me." He said as I scooted to the edge and let my feet hang down over the side. He then directed his attention back to Dillon. "Now, just sit in front of her and let her lean over on you. I need her back to be stretched and tight so I hit the right spot. Just hug her, that is what I always tell everyone. Wrap your arms around him and put your head on his shoulder so your back is tight." He said as I did what he told me to. I wrapped my arms around Dillon and laid my head on his shoulder and waited for this to be over. "Try to stay as still as possible. I'm not going to lie, this will hurt." He said as he rubbed some of that disinfectant stuff on my back. "Oh my God." I whispered into Dillons neck as he put the needle in my back. He wasn't lying, it really hurt. "It's ok, just a few more seconds." Dillon whispered back as he ran his hands up and down my arms around his neck. "All done, you did great!" The man said as I slowly sat back up. "It will take about 15 minutes to start to work. But once it does you'll be glad you did it." He said as he collected his cart and walked out of the room. "Does it hurt where he gave you the shot?" Dillon asked concerned. "Just a little, mainly just a pinching feeling." I said as I carefully sat back. "Can you go get me some ice?" "Yea, I'll be back in a sec." He said as he quickly left the room. Just as he was leaving Maxie walked in. "You ready to be an aunt?" I asked as I tried to wipe the sweat off of my forhead. The contraction were coming a lot closer now and were a lot more intense. "You ready to be a mom?" She asked as she sat down beside my bed and grabbed my hand coaching me through the next contraction. "Have you talked to mom?" I asked in between breaths. Mom was still stuck in the traffic jam I had talked to her twice and told her not to worry. I guess the cement had spilled out onto the road and everything was pretty chaotic. "Yea, she keeps calling every five minutes. Infact she should be calling anytime now." She said as I laughed. "So are you going to stay in here when I have the baby?" I asked as the contraction started to deminish. "I don't think so, I'd probably pass out. I'll just wait outside if that's alright with you." She said as we both laughed. "That's fine. I didn't think you would want to." "I can't believe you are having a baby, and before me!" She said with a huge smile on her face. "I know, right. What's up with that." The epideral must have started working because I could feel the contraction but not the pain so much anymore. "Well I'm going to go so you can get some rest." She said as she stood up and the nurse walked back in. "Wait, stay with me while she checks me. I hate this part." I said as she sat back down and grabbed my hand again. This part was really uncomfortable, it was like tremendous pressure being put on my uterus. "Well Ms. Jones, you are coming along really quickly. I'd say you'll be ready to push within the next 30 minutes?" The nurse said as she walked over to all the machines and checked each one. "Really? Are you serious?" I asked in complete disbelief. "Yep, you are to nine centimeters and 100%. Now we just have to wait till you get to ten and you start having the urge to push. Who is going to be in here with you when you deliver?" She asked. "My father and my fiance." I said as I looked back up at Maxie. "I'll go get them. Good luck." Maxie said as she squeezed my hand and left the room. The nurse checked a few more things before leaving and going to notify Dr. Taylor that I was almost ready. Dillon and Mac ran into the room a little while later, shock written all over their faces. "It's almost time?" Dillon asked as they walked over to me. "Yea, hey where is my ice?" I asked. "The nurse said about 30 minutes." "I had it and then me and Mac got to talking and I forgot." Dillon said as he lightly hit himself upside the head. "That's alright." Everyone that had come to the hospital came back in really quick to see me one last time. Sure enough, about thirty-five minutes later I had a sudden urge to push. "Mac, go get the doctor. She's ready to meet everyone." |
