| Chapter 20 This was the first time in the last month that I had been alone and as much as I would love to say that I was loving every minute of it, that would be a lie. I missed having everyone around. Not to do things for me or help me do things but just having someone to talk to. Maxie had gone to work after I convinced her that I would be fine by myself. It was storming really bad outside and right now I am in the kitchen making a sandwich, ham and cheese with chips on top! Just as I was walking around the corner into the livingroom the door flew open and a big gust of wind and rain blew into the livingroom. And in the doorway, Dillon stood there soaking wet. "Georgie, what are you doing out of bed?" He asked as he ran his hands through his hair until most of the water droplets were out of it making it stick up on end and shut the door. "I was hungry, and umm you know the whole drowning rat look isn't 'in' anymore." I said as I motioned to him. "You are just soo funny." He said not sounding all to amused. "What's wrong?" I asked as I sat back down on the bed with the plate of food in my lap. "Oh well ok, me and Ned are going through a bunch of paper work since he got this big merger today and guess who shows up at the offices." Dillon said as he stood in front of me and pealed of his wet work shirt. "Edward? As much as he runs on and on about that place I don't think I have ever once seen him there." I said as I laughed slightly. "I'll do you one better. It was none other than my mom." He said as he ran up the stairs to get a pair of dry clothes before he came back down to change in the bathroom down here. "Your mom? Oh my gosh, she just showed up?" I yelled so he could hear me in the bathroom. "Oh yea, she comes busting in there even after the secretary told her to wait and then starts all this sweet talk and wants to give me a hug." Dillon said as he came back out into the livingroom. "What did you do?" I asked my full attention to him now. "Well I didn't hug her, that's for sure. Can you believe that she came back to get me to go with her to Italy?" He said as he crawled onto the bed and sat down beside me after kissing me quickly. "She wants you to go to Italy with her? Are you going to go?" I asked a little crushed. I was hoping he wouldn't go, but I wasn't going to force him to stay if he wanted to go to Italy, I mean who wouldn't want to go there? "No, of course I'm not going." He said as he shivered. I grabbed one of his big sweaters that I had been wearing and handed it to him. I had gotten cold and it was the only sweater I could find, plus it was my favorite because it smelled like him, even after you wash it ten times it never loses it's scent. "Thanks." He said as he put it on. One minute I would be hot the next I would be cold, it really sucked. "Did you tell her about the baby and about us?" I asked as I twisted the diamond ring around on my finger. He had given it to me the day after he asked me to marry him. I had woken up at the hospital with him asleep in the chair next to me. Once he woke up we talked for a little while and then he showed me the ring and put it on my finger. It was so beautiful. "Yea I told her I wasn't going with her because I had family here and because I have you here and that you are about to have the baby. I told her that I was staying here." He said just as the lights went out in the house and everything went quiet. "Stay right there, don't try to walk or anything." He said as he got off the bed and walked over to the window and looked out. "Everyone is out of power, this is one hell of a storm. Hold on I'll go get some candles and flashlights." "I'll bet she wasn't to happy to hear that was she?" I asked as the baby got the hiccups, it tickled and felt kind of funny. I rubbed my hand over my belly trying to let her know that I felt her, as if it was some kind of signal. "Oh she wasn't very happy at all, but I don't care. Well I do, but not if she can't be happy for us. Ned yelled at her because she started running her mouth, then he told me I could have the rest of the day off because he wanted to talk to her alone." Dillon said as he wondered around the house grabbing all the candles and flashlights he could find and then coming back into the livngroom. "Well it's a good thing he let you come home because I don't know what I would have done if the power went out when no one was here. I probably would have just slept the whole time." I said as he sat a flashlight in the middle of the coffee table and started lighting all the candles. The candles were all different colors and shapes and sizes, random ones that were lying around the house. "How's that?" He said as he finished lighting the last candle before getting back onto the bed. He grabbed my sandwich off the plate that was still in my lap and took a bit of it. I could tell he didn't like it because he started almost choked on it before he finally swallowed it. "Eww what was on that?" "Chips." "What kind of chips?" He asked looking at me. "Pickled flavor." I said as I started laughing. "That is just nasty. I'm going to try to call your mom or Mac and see what's going on with this." He said as he reached over and grabbed his cell phone. As he was talking I just sat there eating my sandwich not paying attention to what he was saying. After about 20 minutes and I was done with my sandwich he set the phone down. "So what's going on?" I asked as I put the plate on the table beside me. "Mac is in overload right now. He said that once the power went out people were trying to steal all kinds of things from the stores. Your mom is still at Bobbie's and said that since I am here with you, she is going to stay with Bobbie for a little while longer because she doesn't want to leave her there by herself, I guess Lucas isn't there. Maxie is at Kelly's, they kicked the generators on and since it is one of the only restaurants with power right now she is swamped. Looks like it is just you and me kid."He said laughing at his own joke. "Should I be happy?" I asked acting like I could care less. "Well not if you don't want to be." He said as he laid down and faced away from me. "Oh I'm sorry, I am happy." I said as I leaned over him and started kissing his cheek. I could feel him smile as he turned underneath me so he was now on his back. "I thought you would be." He said as the flashlight in the middle of the coffee table, the only flashlight we had dimmed until there was nothing coming out of it. "Where's your batteries at?" He asked as he went to get up but I stopped him. "Don't worry about that, just lay here with me." I said as he laid back down and wrapped his arms around me. "I just can't believe she showed up after all those times I tried to call her and she never called back! I should have known she wouldn't return the calls and I should have known she wouldn't be happy about this." Dillon said as I could feel him tensing up under me. "That's not your thing to worry about, she'll come around eventually or if not then she'll deal with it in her own way. Don't let it bother you so much." I said as I looked up at him. "I know, but I can't help it. She just can't get down off of her high horse enough to care about anyone else but herself." He said as he took in a deep breath. "I'm sure she cares about you in her own way." I said trying to convince him of something that I wasn't myself sure of. "I don't know. I still can't believe it, though." He said as he hugged me closer to him. I slowly sat up leaning on my elbows and looked down at him before I lowered my lips down to his. Once he got into the kiss he wrapped his arms around me and deepened it. Every sense in my body seemed to be magnified by a thousand as he ran his hands up and down my back. Time stood still as we got lost in each other, the seconds felt like minutes and the minutes felt like seconds. Dillon put his hands on the side of my face and softly ran his thumbs over my cheeks. My hands seemed to have a mind of there own as they traveled from his neck to the hem of his shirt and then under it as I ran my fingers up the course of his tight, lean stomach causing him to shudder against my lips. I started to bring his shirt up until his hands gently took hold of mine. "Georgie slow down, we can't do this." He said not breaking away from my lips. "Why not?" I asked as I kissed his lips one more time before I started kissing down his jaw line to his neck. "Oh my God! Georgie don't do that, you know I can't take it when you do that." He said as he started breathing harder. He slowly got from under me and sat up. "We have to stop now." He said as he tried to control his breathing. "Yea, must just be my raging hormones or something." I said as I laughed dryly. I can't believe I just got so carried away. "I mean, why would you want to, right? "It isn't a matter of wether I want to or not, more of knowing we can't. I mean, your could go into labor at anytime, especially since you've been put on bed-rest. Even if we could I wouldn't risk that. Besides, this is what got us into all of this in the first place." He said as he ran his hands over his face. "I know, I don't know why I did that." I said as I sat beside him and rested my head on his shoulder. "Could you imagine if Mac or my mom would have walked in just then?" I asked as we both laughed. "I'd be hanging by my toes from that tree out there in the front yard." Dillon said as the lights in the house came back on. "Well I guess the storm is over. The worst of it, that is." I said as I looked out the window to see it still raining pretty hard. |
