| Chapter 13 ~~~~~~~~~At The Book Store~~~~~~~~~~ "Ok, I got the books I need." Maxie said as she came over to me. "What are you getting?" "Oh, I seen these baby name books and thought 'what the heck'. I'm going to grab a few so we can all look through them and think of names." I said as I looked at the stack I had in my hands. "But I'm ready to go. You're going to be late if we don't leave soon." "I know, here give me the books and go get Dillon and tell him we are leaving. I'll go pay for these." She said as she turned and walked over to the register. I looked around and finally saw Dillon looking at some magazines, he put the one he was looking at back and then walked towards me after seeing me looking for him. "Ready?" He asked as he came up and laced his fingers with mine. "Yep, Maxie is getting the books, I'm also getting some books that have tons of baby names in them. We should start thinking of some now, don't you think?" I asked as we walked out the front door. "If you want to start now, then we'll start now." He said kissing the side of my head. Maxie walked out a few minutes later with a huge grin on her face. "Did you see that guy that was at the cash register. Yummy." She said to no one in particular. She got in the car and we took off. I started looking through one of the books I got. Maxie reached between the seat and grabbed another one of the baby name books. Knowing it was a girl was half the battle we at least knew where to look. We pulled into the parking lot at PCU and Maxie got out and then came up beside my door. "I should be done in about 3 hours but I'll call you if anything changes, and I'm taking this book with me so I can pick some. I need something to keep me busy in here. Thanks for the ride, Dillon." She said as she walked away and into the building. "So now what?" I asked. "How does a walk in the park sound?" He asked as we left the parking lot. "It sounds great." ~~~~~~~~~At The Park~~~~~~~~~ "What do you think about Madison?" I asked as I scanned over the names in the book I had brought with me. We had walked for a little while and then found a bench to sit on. Well Dillon was sitting I was laying down with my head in his lap. I looked up at him. "I like that, do you want me to write that down?" He asked. He had been writing all the names we both liked down onto a piece of paper so we could narrow them down later. "Yea, you pick a name, I've done them all so far." I said. "Ok, umm Beatrice?" He asked looking down at me, his face expressionless. "Beatrice? Are you serious?" I asked as I looked at him like he lost his mind. "Yea Beatrice was in the play by Shakespeare called 'Much Ado About Nothing'." He said smiling. "Wow, umm I don't know what to say." I said but he started again. "Or how about Gertrude? She was in 'Hamlet'. One of his best pieces." "Uhh sorry, and no offense to Shakespeare or anyone else but I am not naming our baby Beatrice or Gurtrude. Do you know what a name like that will do to a child?" I asked as I started thinking of her getting teased because of her name. "I'm just joking, I don't want to name her any of those anyways." He said laughing. "How about Miranda? That is a Shakespeare character from 'The Tempest', but that is cute don't you think?" He asked as he gently pulled the tie out of my hair and smoothed it out. "Yea that's cute, write it down. Ok, I'll just name some names and you just say yes or no and write the ones you like down. ok?" I asked as I tried to block the sun from my eyes. "Ok." He said. "Hannah." "Yes" "Alyssa" "Yes" "Taylor" "Not really" "Emma" "Yes" "Kylie" "No way, too much like Kyle" "Sierra" "Yes" "Paige" "Ok" "Brooke" "Yes" "Kaylee" "No, too much like Kylie" "Sydney" "Yes" "Wait, I found one I know you'll like. Faith!" I said as I busted out laughing. "It say that the meaning for Faith is 'trust'. How convenient." "What? No way, that was low." He said as he looked down at me. "You know you like that name.....and everything that comes with it." I said as he plugged his ears like he wasn't listening. "I do not, that was forever ago and why do you have to bring that up?" He asked. "Because it is fun to tease you." I tried to sit up, eventually doing so with his help. "That's not fair." He said as he started pouting. "Calm down, I'm done. Here, how about the name Skylar?" I asked. "That is a little soap opera-ish don't you think?" He asked as he wrinkled up his nose. "Soap Opera-ish, is that even a word? And how does that sound like that." I couldn't help but laugh at how he always felt inclined to make up words. "Hi, umm my name is Skylar and I have been married three times. My first husband was killed and then came back to life after he was in an explosion and was shot and stabbed over fifty times and my third husband turned out to be my biological brother. And now my twin sister just showed up." He said in a girly voice as he acted like he flipped his hair behind his shoulders. "Haha, that was too funny. Ok, forget that name." I said as I finally calmed down from laughing so hard. I went back to looking for names and cringed at some of the ones listed. "Look at some of these names: Glenda, Gretchen, Helga, Kitty, Mimi, oh and my favorite Bertha. Why would anyone ever name their kid Bertha or any of those names?" "Hey my aunt's name is Mimi and my cousin's name is Gretchen." He looked kind of hurt and I really felt bad, I hadn't thought that I was going to offend him when I said that. "I'm sorry, really. I was just joking, those are great names." I could really kick myself in the ass sometimes. Why do I even open my big mouth. "Yea well you should really think about those kinds of things before you start to say thing like that. I mean.......no I'm just kidding, those are horrible names. I don't even know any of my family outside of the Quartermaine's" He said with a broad smile like he had just won something. "You're such an ass." I said as I stood up and walk away. "That was just cruel making me feel terrible for nothing." I yelled back to him. Instead of following me, Dillon jut sat there in shock. Now the joke was on him!! |
