Heavy rainfall during the intermittent weeks meant the river was wider and faster flowing than when earlier reccied by the group that had planned the training. This was to mean that only the Platoon Commander, Cpl Talbot(author,) and a handful of others were able to cross before it was decided to be to dangerous to continue. This rump platoon moved to make the surprise attack on the enemies rear-unable to communicate with Company Headquarters due to doused radios, while the rest moved back to join the remainder of the company by road.
