HMS Bermuda at Malta.
This was the second of the name. The first was a sloop-of-war, built in 1806, one of a fleet built in Bermuda on Naval contract. After being captured in 1810, and re-captured the following year, she was lost of Aldboro' Head in 1812.
The second HMS Bermuda, pictured, was a Colony Class cruiser. She was laid-down at the Clydebank, Scotland shipyard of John Brown Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd. on the 30th. November, 1939. Launched on the 11th. September, 1941, she was comissioned on the 21st. August, 1942. After a varied career in war and peace, she payed her last visit to Bermuda in 1961, being payed off the following year.
