Immigration.
Are bank robbers really undocumented bank tellers? ---
Immigration and jobs are so closely related I feel I have to repeat.

I immigrated from Missouri
about 23 years ago.  I did NOT come here for social service handouts. Or for the good schools, but they were very good, and inexpensive.  I came here because I could.  I came here for the same reason the '49ers came a 154 years ago.

Opportunity.  I took advantage of that.  Threw away the snow tires and went to work.  In the mid 80's I was Lead Foreman in charge of a crew of about 70 men removing asbestos from an Insurance building in the West San Fernando Valley.  More than half my crew did NOT speak English.  I was a "working" foreman.  I worked with them, sweat and bled with them.  I had their respect and they had mine.

I would NOT want the job of going into their homes and dragging them and their families, kicking and screaming, onto a bus headed for Tijuana.  Anyone who has worked for me knows that I will NOT ask anyone to do a job that I am NOT willing to do, or have NOT done in the past.

You want to deport illegal aliens who are otherwise hard working, law-abiding citizens?  Then you best find another candidate.

A parable.  A metaphor.  An analogy.

Don't take this wrong.  As I said, I have great respect for the people from all over the world who have come here for the same reasons I did.  Opportunity.

But just because
the back door is left open, it does NOT give anyone the right to move into my house.  I accept visitors when invited and they stay for an abbreviated period of time.  MY choice --- NOT theirs.  If I want to adopt someone into my family, there is a LEGAL process.  There are waiting lists.  People are checked out.  Papers are signed.

And it is ultimately my choice.  I canNOT adopt everyone who wants to move into a little three bedroom home with me and my family.  It does NOT matter how much they need, or how dire their circumstance.  My first responsibilty is to my family.  Their security, welfare, and needs.

We've spent forever talking about putting a lock on the back door.  We need to stop talking and DO.  We need to start addressing the dire circumstances and needs that cause people to walk for miles across hot sand and risk their lives in so many other ways.

Vincente Fox has NO business pressuring this country for compromise.  He should be embarrassed.  Ashamed that his country fails it's people so miserably.

I got more to say about this issue.  When I get a chance I'll put it right here.   Check back.
