The opening performance of “A Pirate’s Strife,” an original musical/comedy, will be April 20th at 7:00pm in Rescue, CA. “A Pirate’s Strife” is the 14th Annual Youth Theatrical Production presented at the Foothills United Methodist Church (FUMC) Theatre, located at 3301 Green Valley Road in Rescue. This year’s presentation is a completely original story, as we meet up with two battling kingdoms who decide to put aside their differences when the Prince from one plans to wed the Princess from the other. However, wedding (and other) plans go awry when a treasure map from a famous historical pirate turns up and sends the characters off into a series of adventures that ends up leading them deep into the heart of a terrible place known as The Death Swamp!! The adventures that ensue will make for over two hours of fun and laughs for the entire family. “A Pirate’s Strife” will run for three nights over the weekend of April 20, 21 and 22. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:00pm, and the Sunday performance will begin at 5:00pm. “A Pirate’s Strife” was written and directed by Annie and Greg Lamy, Senior High youth group leaders at FUMC for the past fourteen and 1/2 years. The characters in “A Pirate’s Strife” are active members of FUMC’s Junior and Senior High youth programs. These youth are students at several local Junior High Schools, as well as from Oak Ridge, Ponderosa, and Folsom High Schools. Tickets are available prior to the performances by contacting Foothills Methodist Church at (530) 677-4910 or (916) 933-6682. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on performance nights, 3301 Green Valley Road in Rescue, but space is limited. Donation ticket prices are $5 for adults, and $3 for Senior Citizens and children 12 years and under. Refreshments will be available at the intermission for a nominal cost. All funds from this performance of “A Pirate’s Strife” will help with the funding of future FUMC youth activities and programs. This year’s performance is the fourteenth annual FUMC theatrical presentation, following in the tradition of past presentations of “The Prince or the Pauper?,” “Hickules,” “Jack and the Mean Jock,” “Peter Panic,” “The Prince’s Bride,” “Beauty of a Beef,” “Fur Get Me? Not!,” “Can’t Buy Me Luck,” “The Lyin’ King,” “Robin’s Hoods,” “Sleeping Beauty: The Untold Story”, “Rumple’s Revenge,” and “Snow White and the Seven Dweebs.”
