| I feel I am the luckiest mom on earth to have been blessed with a daughter like Marrina, even though God gave her to me for such a short time. Marrina experienced many trials and tribulations during those years. She worked hard to excel in cheerleading, dancing, and academically in her school years. She had cheered for 7 years, two of which, she achieved all-star status. She had danced for 16 years, 8 of which, she danced for Leisha on her Junior Advanced and Senior Advanced Competition Teams. Academically, she was a high achiever and graduated with Honors, Beta Honors, FBLA Honors, and French Club Honors. She also received four scholarships for college. She served FBLA locally as Secretary and President two years each. She served Mississippi FBLA as State Secretary. During her four years in FBLA, she competed and placed all four years, two in FBLA Principles and Procedures, and two in Future Business Leader. Marrina also served as a Pearl River Central Student Body Officer her junior and senior years in high school. She kept a very active life and made the most of everyday. For her Senior Solo in the dance recital she danced to My Wish For You by Jessica Andrews. This song represented Marrina's zest for life. Whatever she did she did to the fullest. Marrina was a highly motivated young lady. She worked hard in every aspect of her life, always striving to improve and do better in whatever it was she was doing never quitting no matter what. The relationship Marrina took most serious in her life was her relationship with God. She strived every day for a closer walk with him. She worked hard to be a better Christian everyday and yes she was not perfect but worked hard to be. She participated at First Baptist Church of Picayune in the Youth Choir pushing herself to develop into a singer. She loved challenges and tried out for a solo part in the Christmas program and sang her solo like she had always sung on stage in front of lots of people. She loved drama and acting and participated in the Drama group at First Baptist performing lead roles in several plays. When Natalie, the drama coach, moved Marrina lead the youth as their drama coach. She loved God more than anything and put him first even though she was ridiculed by some of her peers she never let her love for God or faith in him waiver. People who truly knew and loved her found peace in the fact that when she died, we knew where she was and that for Eternity she would be an Angel in Heaven. The song "I Can Only Imagine" is a remembrance of Marrina. It was like the song was written for her. I often wonder what she did when she saw God for the first time. She was a truly remarkable young lady who lived life to the fullest everyday. She loved her family and friends and cherished even the smallest moments with them. My daughter was an awesome kid on earth and I know I will see her again someday. |
