| Dust Brothers Techniques |
| The Dust Brothers are some proven geniuses when it comes to sampling. There are many samples throughtout Odelay that can't be identified right now because they are cleverly disguised. Changing pitch and speed of the records they used, they made samples they figured only a trained ear would find. Hotwax is one example of pitch change. The woman's voice and man's voice saying "who are you?, I'm the enchanting wizard of rhythm. Why did you come here? I came here to tell you about the rhythms of the universe? have both had the pitch changed. On the album from 1972 by Mandrill called "Mandrill Is", there is a small child's voice saying this line followed by a man with slightly different voice than the one on the Odelay album. The brothers are refined in this art, because of the cost of sampling. I believe if sampling wasn't so expensive the brothers would be some of the most sought after producers in the music industry because of their knowledge. |
