Howdy! Well, the GPJWRC just keeps getting better and better doesnt it? Our online membership renewal brought back almost all of our old members and plenty of new ones too. I hope as the Spring show season really gets underway we will see even more people joining from our great part of the country. Doing away with the membership fee was a bold move on the part of the GPJWRC board, but if everyone in the club will do thier best to participate and join in, we should be just fine anyway with our fundraising activities. Please dont leave the work or the donations or decisions to just a few people. Check the GPJWRC chat list, participate, give input and help out. Youth.....we mean you too! This is your club, and you are expected to be involved, and your input is important to all of us. So, Speak Up! Specialty Shows and the Summer Picnic are being planned, please check the Events page for updates as the shows get closer. Feel free to suggest judges by name to the board and we will see if we can get them for a coming show. Nationals is coming up very fast, and so far it does not seem like too many are commited to attending. I do hope the Kudzu Club has a good turnout- it is so much work to put together a National show. Please dont forget to send me a donation for the GPJWRC Mothers Basket. We want to have a dandy! The 2007 ARBA convention did not get much coverage in the last NJWRC newsletter, so let me say a HUGE congradulations to all the exhibitors who did so well from our Club, many of our breeders placed in the top five of some good sized classes. Our youth really did outstanding.....9 of the 12 groups winners were our own youth....that is just super. Congrads to Gayle Beirau and Janice Hatt for thier group wins in open too. Of course I am very happy for Tessa, winning Best of Breed with her home bred bunny was something I have watched her worked long and hard for. Thats about it for club news, I sure like our new and improved website- we can keep it updated and keep members informed of club activities. Did you notice we upgraded to an "adds free" site with more space? It almost could make a "newsletter" obsolete.....so we decided to have a little fun and make our "newsletters" a little different. We hope you enjoy it~and dont be shy if you would like to be "featured" in the next one......just send Tessa your idea, show report, article, picture... whatever! When Tessa and I brainstormed this newsletter, I must admit "Western" is dear to my heart.....I just love western, country, common, down to earth people and things. I will also confess to being a country dance fanatic throughout the 1990's, if you can imangine! I was even a line dance teacher. My husband and I could often be found "dancing in a sea of cowboy hats" in full western get-up, hootin and hollering and having the time of our lives. It was a great hobby, one I loved as much as I love the bunnies now. It also kept me much more fit and trim than driving in a car for hours to a show! Hmmm, more than one reason to bring that back into my life soon. I still break out the western dance music (we're talking rockin stompin country...not the sissy stuff!.) when I am getting tired driving on a road trip, or when I really need to get my house cleaned fast! So, as we start a new Spring season, lets bring it in with Good Sportsmanship, Good Friends, Community, and remember some of the common sense of the old west....I looked up "The Code of the West" and, like many good pieces of advice, it can be used in all aspects our life....including our wonderful hobby. ~Terri Erb~ |

| Why Barb, your new hat is lovely~perfect for these cold winter shows! |
| Its not a hat....I bought a mini lop and I dont have an open carrier! |
| The Code of the West (more or less) 1.Never pass anyone on the trail without sayin "Howdy." 2. Look out for your own. A cowboy is true to his brand, his friends and those he rides with. 3.Dont stir up dust around the chuckwagon. 4. Tend your animals needs before your own. 5.A braggert is all gurgle and no guts....real cowboys are modest. 6. Give yer enemy a fighting chance. 7.Be hospitable to strangers. 8. Take measure of a man for what he is today...leave the past in the past. 9.Respect the land and the enviroment. 10. Yer word is yer bond...honesty is absolute. 11. Never shoot a woman no matter what (yeah even if you're a woman!) 12. Always drink yer whiskey with yer gun hand to show yer friendly intentions. 13. Dont talk too much-save your breath for breathin. 14. Live by the Golden Rule! |
