Our School
The greatness of a school is attributed to the effort and dedication of its staff, faculty and studentry. Cooperation among other makes the burden light that leads to a more productive and effective results. Gregorio Perfecto High School started as Ismar annex of Torres High School. In 1947 Mr.Pablo Reyes, principal of Torres High School pushed through with his plan of separating Ismar Annex from Torres High School because of its increasing population. In June 16,1958 the annex became Ismar High School. This is in accordance with Division Memorandum No.60 s.1958. The main building of the school was located at Juan Luna, Tondo. The new school was supervised by Mr. Fabian Bugayong as second principal, Leonor Zapanta as head teacher and Mr. Aurelio Libao as guidance counsellor. There were 66 teachers and a population of 1,425 students. Until Sept.25,1958 then mayor Arsenio H.Lacson approved Resolution No. 529 changing Ismar High School to Gregorio Perfecto High School in honor of the late justice Gregorio Perfecto, one of the signatories of the 1935 Constitution.
There were series of petitions and efforts made during the time of Mr. Domingo Quiambao, Miss Ines Villanueva and Mr. Bartolome del Valle to house Gregorio Perfecto High School in a new building and location. April,1964 when the construction of the new building for Gregorio Perfecto High School started. It is in Ricafort St.Tondo. Unfortunately, the building was damaged by an earthquake in 1969, then another one in 1990 that led to the total reconstruction of the school building. The reconstruction lasted for three years. But during the reconstruction period classes went on. The first and second levels were housed at the TONDO SPORTS COMPLEX, the third year in a vacant lot located at Ricafort St. where makeshift rooms were put up, and the fourth year at the MANUEL L. QUEZON ELEM. SCHOOL. Inspite of the misfortune that struck the school, Gregorio .PERFECTO continued to win in the different school competitions and contests under the principalship of Miss Elena Ruiz.
The school building was finally restored in 1993 until another misfortune took place - a fire destroyed the third floor in December 6, 1996 With the effort and dedication of the principal, in the person of Mrs. Pilar Pizarro with the coordination of the division superintendent, DR.PARALUMAN GIRON and NCR director NILO ROSAS, the third floor of the school building was restored and was inaugurated in Sept.17,1997. The bitter memories of G.PERFECTO HIGH SCHOOL will only be a thing of the past because of the good and untiring dedication to service of its principal, Miss Angela Ong. With her administration the school begin to be great again, as the saying goes. And will continue to achieve its goals and vision under the leadership of Mr. Arnulfo Empleo, its new principal.

There has been a changing of the guards. Move over, Mr. Arnulfo H. Empleo, welcome Mrs. Eugenia Gorgon. School year 2003-2004 will have a new leader at the helm. We have faith that Mrs. Gorgon will be a good steward. More power, Mrs. Gorgon, lead GPHS to greater heights.
