As it's named, the topic in this page is all about me; who am
I, where am I, and what am I doing.
The necesarry of these information is how
to make you know me better, so we can build a relationship or
friendship further.
Gun Gun Permana is the name my parents given
to me. I know that's name maybe unfamiliar for you who use
English as primary language. That name maybe smell like
danger, you know, something
like an arm for killing people!
But it's not true, I'm completelly safe!
Nothing to worry about making friend with me. Maybe some
times I can be a little dangerous, but that's only happen
when I'm armed with a big blowing shoot gun that I have no
idea how to use it!
I was born at December the 31st
1975 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. in Bandung I spend my time
in this city of flower until now. My past was'nt so nice, I was a
naughty kid who settled in dark side of town. That was a time in
my life that sometimes I wo'nt believe happened to me. In that
time, no time without drugs and alcohol, and many things happened
to me where those things not happened to other at my age.
Time goes by, and one by one my friend in
streethood
died caused bad habit, I begin to realize that was not such
way of life
that I really want. So I trying to get out from there,
searching for new inspiration that can help me to get out
from there. As a result, in 1991 I entered to a new society,
that is music society. This society, Sekolah Menengah
Karawitan Indonesia (Indonesian Traditional Music High School),
actually was
a high school for studying music especially traditional music,
a thing that really strange to me.
In this new society, I've learned
many things, not just how to play music but more than that, I
learn how to became the true Sundanesse people and take more
responsibilities about my own culture. This helps me to
forget my past and ready for the future. Later I realize that
I was changed. Here I am now. A brand new me, and my new
world: world of music, and I can proudly to say that I'm a nayaga
(traditional musician), even if traditional musician placed
in minor area in my society, but if was not me, who else to
take care about this ancestor heritage?

Now I'm graduated from Sekolah Tinggi Seni
Indonesia Bandung (STSI, or Indonesian Art Colleague)
after four and a half year learning deeper about traditional
Sundanesse music. Although not an expert, I have capability
to playing many of Sundanesse musical instrumen pretty good.
And I've been performed in many times, many occasions, many
places, in many genres including classical degung, tembang
Sunda, wayang golek, calung, kliningan, celempungan,
rampak kendang,
new creations, contemporary, happening arts, and so on.
I compose music to, some have been performed
primarily in my campus on Buah Batu street,
Bandung.

Today I
have working on some project, some are my own project,
others are together with other musicians, that are:

Campaign Music Performance on street with Magic Skin Of Drum, weekly in Buah
Batu street.

audio/video recording and regular promo show.
With SambaSunda,
fill the music ilustration to a traditional
teathre show (longser)

Joined with
Jugala group as musician, current project are music and
dance training program and regular show.
