Services

Supportive at listening and answering questions perceptively by clarifying, eliminating distractions, and repeating statements to confirm accuracy

Effective at chairing and/or facilitating group discussion regarding plans and scopes

Flood retarding treatment investigation.  Presented a viable engineering alternative of rehabilitating an existing flood retarding structure to flood control district and state water resources department officials.  This alternative was part of a watershed and environmental assessment.

Unique at experimenting with new approaches after benchmarking resources and comparing results

Foundations course laboratory procedure developer.  Provided leadership among four students in developing laboratory procedures to verify Schmertmann’s use of successive sand strata overburden Young’s Moduli in his shallow structure load settlement analytical method. Approximate deviator stress versus vertical strain plots were developed through which Young’s Moduli were obtained.  These curves were obtained using a frozen sand sample in a consolidated drained (CD) triaxial test.

Excel at functioning as an information broker by gathering data from a variety of sources, including the Internet

Soil mechanics engineering training.  Received soil mechanics laboratory testing and report development training. · Developed seven floodwater retarding structure design reports featuring settlement, slope stability, and seepage analyses in addition to laboratory test results.  These embankment reports addressed structures located in rural areas having a maximum height range of twenty-six to thirty-seven feet and earth-fill volume range of 32,000 to 101,000 cubic yards. · Developed letters reporting on laboratory test results: eight letters reporting on waste pond sealing using soil treatments and two letters reporting on rock quality for proposed rock riprap construction. · Laboratory training included sample receiving, cores opening, index property testing, test assignments, engineering property testing, and results interpretation.

Internet tools.  Accessed the Internet using Microsoft (MS) Internet Explorer and communicated by electronic mail and facsimile using MS Outlook Express in the MS Windows computer environment.  Use search and megasearch engines.  Familiar with Privacy Corporation BOClean and PGP electronic mail encryption and authentication software.

Competent at deriving computer software applications from other people’s ideas or technical resources

Workbook or spreadsheet file developments using codes, macros, and interactive features. Strucume computes soil cut and fill volume estimates · Filexile evaluate geotextile filters around sub-surface drains · emsettl estimates embankment-foundation primary settlement and after-construction residual settlement. · filgrad specifies soil gradation limits for use in the design of sand and gravel filters · pycalib calibrates the mass of a pycnometer containing distilled water · and insitsat computes in situ and saturated soil parameters given soil index properties.

File developments.  Developed documents using MS Word · tables and graphs using MS Excel and Lotus 1-2-3 · presentations using MS PowerPoint and SPC Software Publishing Harvard Graphics · mathematical and data analyses using MathSoft Mathcad · and schedule and resource analyses using Primavera SureTrak Project Manager and MS Project Manager.

Formal education.  Foundation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering Introduction, Physical Geology, Basic Hydrology, Soil Mechanics and Engineering college courses for a cumulative 4.0 GPA.  Certifications.  Engineer-In-Training (EIT), State of Colorado · Microsoft Office Excel 2000 Specialist, administered by Robert Half International, Inc.
