Water and environmental management

p

Natural resources conservation engineering is concerned with all aspects of water and environmental management.  Such water and environmental management can include irrigation, water conservation, drainage, water control and structures, soil erosion, waste and wastewater recycling, water quality, ecosystems preservation, and environmental quality.  Objectives are making efficient use of valuable soil and water resources; preserving water quality for the benefit and safety of all users; conserving water by wastewater reuse from previous users; allowing harmonious co-existence between people, industry, and wildlife; and preserving natural ecosystems.  Some engineering design examples are surface water management systems, reservoirs, embankments, floodwater retarding structures, grade stabilization structures, wetland retention areas, irrigation and drainage systems, and wastewater reuse systems.
