Cecile was born on the 17th January, 1929 in Kew, Melbourne. She trained as a secretary and worked for ABC Radio as a record librarian. She also was a professional singer and competed in "Sun Aria" competitions and the South Street Eisteddfod in Ballarat. Her singing career took her to England where she met and married Albert Henry Huckfield in 1965. |

Albert Henry Huckfield was born in London on the 14th June 1928, Living in various parts of England such as Battersea, Worcester Park, Margate and Clapham. He served with the RAF servicing Wellington and Lancaster Bombers (after WWII as a Flight Mechanic Airframe).. He worked in various fields of engineering turning his skills to making scientific testing equipment for use in medical research. His hobbies included motorcycle racing & bush walking |

The decision was made to return to Australia, and they arrived home on the 14th February, 1966. (Incidentally, the day the Australian economy changed from pounds shillings and pence to dollars and cents) |

Cecile resumed working with the Australian Broadcasting Commission, but this time with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. She continued to do so until her retirement. Even in retirement she still continues to help run small chamber orchestras. |
|
|
On his arrival in Australia, Albert was offered a position working in the research laboratory of the Peter McCallum Cancer Institute, later moving to the Baker Institute, , a medical research facility attached to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. Some years later, he moved to the Scientific Services of the Gas & Fuel Corporation where he worked until his retirement. He is still an active member of of the Melbourne Walking Club. |

Cecile And Albert have one child, that is me ! Gowan Lorraine Huckfield, I was born on the 11th December, 1968. For some time it was a popular belief that I was just a "bad case of wind" as mum was 38 when I was born !! |
