| Housing/Cost of Living
By Mieko Griffin Oops! I want to go home! Hawaii is a great place to live. With the light ocean breeze and a picture-perfect view almost anywhere you choose to reside, it is no wonder that between 1990 and 2000 Hawaii gained over 28,000 new residents. Besides having the 7th highest mean annual income for families ($66,402), Hawaii also held the 5th lowest unemployment rate in the nation (as of October 2002). That year, the unemployment rate was only 3.9%. The average cost of a single family home is only $265,000. |
