Ink and acrylic on paper.  12 December 1979.  7 1/4 x 10 3/8."  Starting in 1977, Gould undertook a series of ink drawings - many using a rapidiograph (tm) pen.  Here, a wide nibbed pen was used to start what he calls, "... the image generation process."  Randomly placed dots of ink were surrounded by massed ink marks until figure-like elements began to appear.  Color was added to imply earth and sky.
