About a decade ago European & Japanese Bengalese were imported to the states changing the standards of the Bengalese we American are familiar with and boy has it raised the bar! Bengalese have never been so popular as they are these days and these endless overseas mutations have caught many breeders attention making them a very popular species not just for fostering.
European Red Brown, Black Grey, & Mocha
The European Bengalese is a much larger birds than the birds we are use to with very defined breasts marking. They almost look like a new breed of bird. I keep and work with the Black Brown, Black Grey, Mocha Grey, Mocha, and Red Brown along with some of the Japanese bird including the Creamino, Ultra Dilute, and Clearwing and of course my favorite the Japanese frills..
European Red Brown and Mocha Brown
Red Brown is the European version of Fawn also refered to as Fox Red. It is a very rare mutation in the U.S.A.

From newly imported bird - I have managed to breed and improve the Red Brown in the states with more vibrant color and fine belly scaling they are ment to have. Quality Red Browns seem to lack, in the U.S.,  due to excessive breeding - to a limited supply of Red Browns, with our domestic society finch therefore losing the color and type these birds were designed for in Europe. I only breed for pure Euros in my breeding programs.

The Japanese have started a series of frill Bengalese which include the Chiyoda (chest frill), Bonten (head frill), Chuunagon (head and neck frill), Dainagon (head, neck, and chest frill). They are all dominate mutations which means you only need one to get more. I can't express how fun they are to breed. I really enjoy them!
