Friday FIVE: Prized Possissions
Friday 5: Prized Possessions

This week's theme is PRIZED POSSESSIONS . . . the "stuff/things" that are very important to you in bringing you smiles, happiness and pleasure in your life . . . not necessarily necessities . . .

The theoretical question . . . Your place of residence is on fire, you can safely take and save five things (not counting living things like family, pets, just STUFF) . . . what are these things? If you care to elaborate, why are they so important to you?

Well this took lots of thought. I am a packrat of sorts and have a lot of STUFF but in an emergency none of it would matter above my son and my various pets. If I Did have time to bring some things I guess they would be as follows:

1. An Old framed page from a Potificial from 1520. It is just the one sheet showing the music that had to of been hand printed on the page. It was a gift from my dad and one of my favorite antiques. Mom did not think I would like it being it was just a musty old sheet of paper from an old book BUT I loved it instantly knowing daddy put lots of thought into finding me a gift that represents so many things I love (music, history, antiques in general and theology).

2. One of my rolling carts with my beading supplies. It is not just a hobby and Quasi-job for me. Making jewelry is also a great stress reliever for me as well. And well if my home is burnt down I figure will need major stress relief afterwards.

3. My black wool swing coat. I know is silly to have a long wool coat in FLORIDA of all places but has been one of my favorite things for many years. The other reason I would grab it is because pinned to it is an antique cameo that my great aunt left me when she passed away. I loved it from the time I was a youngster when she would let me look at her jewelry and it was different from the typical ones in that the background is Green ( prob a lucite of some sort) and the metalware framing it is a gold-tone to look like bamboo stalks. ((Does this count as grabbing 2 things?))

4. My sewing machine. My mom got it for me. Is actually the second one she has gotten me in my life. Since I dont think she ever thought I would learn to sew well enough to really use it makes it even more fun to keep. YUP I do know how to sew now and even enjoy it. (IF I had extra time to drag something not too little/light would also grab my antique sewing machine that sits inside its own little table.))

5. My Cobblers Bench. It was a something I found little over a year ago. I had wanted one for over 10 years, ever since I had seen one at an antique show. Considering I love shoes I found it funny that the little table I fell in love with was a bench cobblers used when repairing or making shoes. ( yes I have a closet full of shoes that those that Know me well would think I would not leave without but I would probably burn up in the house just sitting debating on Which to try and bring and also if I had to choose between shoes (that while may never find that Exact pair again) and things that are old an possibly irreplaceable not to mention sentimental value and the history attached to some of them, to me the choice is easy.

OK now YOUR TURN!!
