[ photos & travel info, including Burkina Faso ]
Summer 2006
Akwaaba means welcome in Ashanti, and we'd like to welcome you to this humble little website of photos and information about Ghana.
We traveled independently through Ghana--and in parts of Burkina Faso--during the summer of 2006, which as you might
As you'd expect traveling through West Africa is somewhat harder going than a tromp through Europe or other developed countries. (We also got a glimpse of both Cote d'Ivoire and Togo, when we stopped briefly in Abidjan and Lome.)
Armed with an out-of-date Lonely Planet guidebook and the hope of getting to see and know more about West Africa (especially its people and culture, wildlife and birdlife), and with the very specific and determined goal of buying some lovely traditional handmade textiles, we spent roughly five weeks in West Africa and came away very satisfied.

Whether you're a friend or family member of ours, or simply someone who surfed on in here, hoping to find out more about Ghana, we hope that you find something of interest. And if it helps encourage anyone to visit this relatively unvisited part of the world, or simply learn more about it, then all the better.
