It’s Carnival Time!

We have scheduled April 29th, as the date for our Spring Carnival.   It will be held at the Elwood YMCA gymnasium.   This will give us plenty of room for games, dancing, raffle, etc.  Hopefully having the event at the YMCA will also help us get the more of the community to attend.

We would like this event to be something the whole family can, and will want to attend!

We will need volunteers for committees, and we will need volunteers for the carnival.  Please make sure you pick at least one area to be involved in.

Princess Contest

We will be sponsoring a Princess contest this year prior to the Carnival.

The candidates will have from April 2nd to April 13th to collect money, which will count as votes.

Example:  $73 collected = 73 votes

(Any amount less than $1. will be rounded)

The child with the highest amount of votes will be crowned the Princess.  We will also have a royal court consisting of the three children with the next highest votes.

We will use the money collected from the Princess Contest to pay for the gym rental, Princess prizes, game prizes, etc.  So this is a very important part of our carnival.  To help encourage the students to participate, we will be crowning the Princess with a tiara, and recognizing her and her Royal Court at the Carnival, and they will receive free admission.  It would also be nice to see if the newspaper will put their photo in for us.  We will also print a supplement page for the Recital Program with the winner’s names and photo.

We will be counting the votes on April 14th, and announcing the winners!

Basket Raffle

The basket raffle has been a big part of our fundraisers in the past.

We would like to keep this going!

Since it is very time consuming for just a few volunteers to go to local businesses and ask for donations, we have decided that we will turn that responsibility over to each team member.

This is how it works ! ! ! ! ! !

Each member will come up with a theme basket.

It is then up to that member if they would like to ask for donations for their basket or if they want to supply the items themselves.

Example:

Basket Theme:  A Day At The Races

I might ask Hoosier Park to donate a couple free admissions and

see if they would give me a gift certificate from their restaurant or ask a restaurant close to the track.  Maybe even ask them if they have any promotional material left over from different events that they might be willing to give me for the basket. (Posters, Pins, Cups, etc.)

Then I might purchase some horse related items, or racing related items for the basket.  Maybe the Marx Bros. movie ‘A Day At The Races’.

(Please Feel Free To Use This Theme!)

IT CAN BE THAT EASY!

You can ask for as many donations to complete your basket as you would like.

You might even end up with something donated that another member might be able to use in their basket.

Have fun with it, and feel free to work in groups.  If you have some time, spend a day working on it and see how many baskets you can come up with.  If you would like to do more than one, that is great!

We have a very creative group, so I am sure we will have some wonderful ideas.

Please remember, the businesses donating items are very important to our success.  We need to show them our gratitude.

I am attaching a form letter to give to your merchant.

I am also attaching a form for you to fill out and return to me with your basket.  This will help us make sure the merchant you worked with is recognized for their generosity.

Our organization would like to thank you for your generous donation.  With support from local businesses like yours, we will be able to raise the funds necessary to make many of our students’ dreams a reality.

Each year, the students we represent are invited to perform and compete all over the United States.  Gotta Dance Booster Club works hard to help raise funds to defray the cost to these students and their families, making it a possibility for more students to attend these events and represent their local communities abroad.

Gotta Dance Booster Club also sponsors events for children in Elwood, Alexandria, and surrounding communities.

Once again, thank you for your donation.  It is greatly appreciated!

We need to have the baskets turned in by April 14th, if at all possible.  This way we will be able to post a list of the baskets in the studios and also get the newspaper to come take a photo of them, and put something in the paper about it.  We must definitely have all the baskets turned in by April 21st.  No exceptions, please!

Committees

If you would like to be in charge of an area of the carnival, or just get more information, please try to attend one of the next meetings.

Elwood – Monday, March 27th @ 7:00pm

Alex – Tuesday, March 28th @ 6:00pm

Anderson Speedway 50/50

I spoke with Kyle Larsen from the Anderson Motor Speedway today, and we have been assigned a 50/50 night.  It is Saturday, June 2nd.  I will be asking people to work this night when it gets a little closer.  This should be a wonderful fundraising opportunity!

Candy Bar Sale

Anyone interested in selling Candy bars?

This can be done individually or we can split up in to groups and sell at grocery stores, etc.  Each group splits their profit for the day.

We have found in the past that GFC or Sam’s Club is a good place to purchase the candy bars.  You make 50% profit, and you do not have shipping costs involved.  They also have many choices of cases to sell.

Beary Thoughtful Bears

We will start selling Beary Thoughtful Bears on May 11th, and complete the sale by June 1st.  This will give us time to get the bears in prior to the recital.

They will supply us each with a brochure and order forms for individual sales.

For every 15 Bears you sell, you get a free bear!

We will be offering the Cheer, Dance, and Gymnastics bears for recital gifts to the studio clientele.  The profit from bears sold at the studio will go to the studio.

We will however need some volunteers to take orders at the studio.

If you would like to do this, please let me know.

Pizza Hut

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to work a Pizza Hut Fundraiser night.  We now have each night covered through the end of the season except the month of June.

Lori just did the March Fundraiser.

April – Trudi and/or Heather

May – Amy K.

We have averaged $60/month with this fundraiser, and it has allowed us to pay for many things that would have just been ‘out-of-pocket’.
