My heart goes out to the families of these men and women.
May they be remembered for what they stood for
and for what they believed in.
They knew the risks and took them anyway,
for the betterment of all mankind.
They became heros of every childhood imagination
when they became austronauts.
They became one 'family' from many backgrounds
when they accepted this mission.
They became pioneers when they lifted off from Earth
aboard the Columbia.
They became a part of our hearts and our history today.
Always remember:
Follow in the footsteps of those who have gone before you.
Learn from their mistakes,
use the knowledge they have passed down,
and take comfort in their spirit watching over you.
