Anthrax- Formed in NYC 1981, they were one of the early 80s metal bands, helping to pioneer speed and thrash metal. Guitarist Scott Ian is one of my favorites, he went on to record two or three albums with S.O.D., hes also now the host of VH-1 Rock Show which airs at around 1 in the morning. During the early 90s they teamed up with Public Enemy for a rap-rock tour, you can hear the Public Enemy song they re-recorded together (Bring the Noise) on the new Playstation game Tony Hawk 2.

Megadeth- Yet another 80s speed metal band (I got a thing for 80s metal), this band was the brain-child Dave Mustain, after being kicked out of Metallica because the pussies were complaining he was a "wild and violent drunk". He went on to form Megadeth which is 10 times better than Metallica ever was anyway, they've calm down over the years and line up has changed as well, I didnt mind the calmer Megadeth, but I got to say that their last album Risk was really bad, so bad I dont recommend ever listening to it, yet I still like Megadeth, and there older stuff is definately worth a listen.

Sound Garden- A seattle band formed in the mid 80s, they didnt really take off till the grunge hit the mainstream in the early 90s. Lead singer Chris Cornell became a famous face, guitarist Kim A. Thayil is also noteworthy. They had a kick ass video for the song Black Hole Sun that won a few awards. Super Unknown was definately their best album, also check out Badmotofinger, they released a "greatest hits" cd A-Sides in '97 right before they disbanded. Cornell went on to do a solo project, but its nothing great.

KMFDM- I dont like alot of forgien bands, or alot of Techno(-ish) bands, but I do like KMFDM. There a German Industrial band that was formed in the early 80s and disbanded in '99. With a sound similar to NIN, they mix techno with metal, and manage to keep the metal music in the foreground and the techno in the background where it belongs. They did (or re-did) the Mortal Kombat theme, you may have heard Juke-Joint Jezebel, also which appeared on the Mortal Kombat sound track. They did a little work with White Zombie doing some re-mixes as well, you can find the remaining members of the band in a band suitablly named MDFMK.
