| Go to Bed Jessica + Armistace + Bitchcraft Friday 12th April Cambridge Hotel Armistice kicked the night off looking keen and ready to play. Armistice is Eliza Toft - Vocals Guitar, Katrina Lee - Guitar, Amanda Poretti - Bass and Leigh Griffin Drums. Warming the crowd with a few laughs, the band hit us with some cool vocals and loud guitars. During the song the band promoted their cd and talked to the crowd. Quality songs with meaning, feeling and distortion are a welcome start to a night of local music at the Cambridge. They had brought along with them eight debut self titled CDs, which retailed at $10, each consisting of four tracks named in order, Gutless - Obsession - Thoughts of Pain - Soft. "Armistace" was recorded and mixed by Fabian Weston. Produced at Cloud studio means that the band has spent time and money on the project. Go to Bed Jessica were the second band to play on the night. The band's lineup are as follows: Cameron Singh - Vocals/Guitar, Heidi Warren - Backing Vocals/Bass and Richard Beggs - drums. A quick sound check of the band and it was getting hard to move with the crowd swelling up waiting for the band to start. Being a slight delay with the mic for Heidi, the band got straight into with very loud and focused vocals. Go to Bed Jessica, a young central coast band, made and impression on the Cambridge crowd. Lots of movement on the stage and some crowd warming by the band made the night complete. There was lots of feedback flying around the room to give an idea how loud it was. The crowd was calling for Heidi's backing vocals to be turned up but the soundman can only do so much. You can download tracks from this band at www.mp3.com.au and search for Go to Bed Jessica. Check it out and see for yourself. The last band were Bitchcraft, who were a bit too underground for my taste. They were very raw and in your face, with lots of harsh and deliberately offensive vocals that gave them a very individual feel. Bitchcraft do put on a bit of a visual performance to make it interesting. They may not be my style but who's to say that you, the reader, wont like them. They had a couple of songs that really had my feet tapping. All in all there was an enthusiastic turnout for local bands and credit to the Cambridge for putting on nights like this.
