Pokemon Yellow Information Page
In the yellow version, instead of you picking one of the three starting monsters (Fushigidane/Bulbasaur, Zenigame/Squirtle, or Hitokage/Charmander), you get a Pikachu, and your rival gets an Eevee. Pikachu, as your new pal, follows you around but does not stay in a poke ball like your other monsters. Also in addition to Pikachu following you, there is also a small screen that shows Pikachu's mood, which is kind of like a virtual pet built in. If you own PokeSta also, then you can get some special extra games that are built into Pokemon Yellow. One of these is a Pikachu Surf game. Pikachu, unlike other Pikachus, can learn surf, and if you beat all four cups in PokeSta, Monster, Super, Hyper, and Master Ball cups, then you get the Pikachu surf game. You can make Pikachu do tricks to gain extra points and also ride bigger waves to hang some major ten.
Some cool new additions are that the lady at the Pokemon Center has a Rakkii/Chansey standing next to her, like in the cartoons. Also, pokemon appear in different areas. A rumor that has gone around is that you can catch all 150 pokemon in this game alone. That though, is a just a rumor. You can though catch a mix of pokemon that red, blue, and green have. You can catch a Mankii/Mankey and a Sando/Sandshrew on the same game pack along with Madatsubomi/Bellspout and Nazonokusa/Oddish. Instead of getting either Fushigidane/Bulbasaur, Zenigame/Squirtle, or Hitokage/Charmander, you get all three of them in the same cartridge from people in the game that would like to give theirs! You can only get one of each though. Another thing which I think is really cool, is the addition of Jesse and James and their pokemon Nyaasu/Meowth, Aaboku/Ekans, and Dogaasu/Koffing. One place where you encounter them is when you're about the leave Otsukimi Yama/Mt.Moon after you beat the nerd with the fossils. The last addition which is my
favorite is that you can trade for pokemon that evolve only when you trade them. For example, a girl will want a Karakara/Cubone for a Goorikii/Machoke which will trade into a Kairikii/Machamp when she trades it to you! So now you don't have to rely on other people to get the really good pokemon.

Bulbasaur can be found at Cerulean City, near the Pokecenter.
Charmander can be found at Route 24 N.W.
Farfetch'd can be found on Routes 12 and 13.
Magnemite can be found in grass before the rock tunnel entrance.
Get the Thunder Badge on the S.S. St. Anne, then go to Vermilion City to find Squirtle.
When you have reached the mystical bird (Arcticuno, Zapdos, and Moltres), save the game before going into battle. This will allow you to restart if you knock them out or run away.
Note: The Pokémon Stadium game on the Nintendo 64 is required for this trick. Successfully complete the tournament mode on Pokémon Stadium without using any rented Pokémon. Then, transfer Pikachu to the Pokemon: Yellow Edition cartridge to play the Pikachu surfing mini-game.

This will not glitch the game if you set the switch to normal and turn it to on after the game starts. To play the mini-game, simply travel to the Surfing Guru south of Fuchia City and talk to him.
Another method is to trade Pikachu to a Red version of the game. Use the GameShark code on that version of the game to teach Pikachu Surf. Then, trade Pikachu back to the Yellow version. Travel to the Surfing Guru south of Fuchia City and talk to him.
Your Pokemon can be printed at the Pokemon Club in Vermilion City.
Catch a Caterpie in Viridian Forest. Advance it to level 7 and he will evolve into a Metapod. Advance it to level 11 and it will evolve into a Butterfree. Butterfree can beat JR. Trainer and Geodude. Butterfree will have to be at least level 13 before it can beat Brock. Note: Use your Pikachu's tail whip to lower their defense.
