To save pictures and buttons to your skins file in your messenger file:

Chose the "Save As" option. Upon doing that another window will come up as well.

After that- this is what you want to do:

Go to the top of the save window and use the scroll down arrow- when the scroll list comes down- chose the Local Disk C or [C]

From there it will open up the window to all of your programs. Look through your programs file for the " Yahoo" file.

Click on it and open it. Fron the Yahoo file you will want to look for the " Messenger" file. Click on it and open it.

When you have the Messenger file open- look for the " Skins" file. click on it and open it.

One more and final file to look for and open: In the Skins file look for the " Custon " file.

You will want to save your graphics and buttons to the custom file.

Examples of how to save them so that your messenger will apply them:

A Background must saved as: background.bmp

A Message button must be saved as: message.bmp

An Add button must be saved as: add.bmp

A Mobile Button must be saved as: mobile.bmp

And a Chat button must be saved as: chat.bmp

When saving Your graphics in the format listed above- your window may tell you that a file already exists. If it does it is ok to replace it in the Custom folder of your Messenger skins with your new buttons.

A Custom folder is for customized items and there is no harm done in repalcing them with new graphics that have the same title.

Adding more skins and creating files to put them in:

In order to continue to add more backgrounds and buttons you will want to create new folders to add to your skins folder.

To do that you will want to start with your "My Documents " file.

After opening that you can find a " Create folder " Icon or link. Click on that to create a new folder. Once you have your new folder created- you can then send it from the My documents file to the Skins file by highlighting it to make the Icon or link visible and from there you can send your new file to the skins file.

Installing your new skins to your Messenger.

Start by logging into your messenger. from there you will want to click on the " Login" button.

It will bring up a scroll down window. From there you want to highlight and click on the " Preferences " link.

Upon doing so it will take you to the " Main Message Window"

At the very top just under the window title you will see the " Current Theme " title with a box and next to the box there will be another scroll down arrow.

Click on the scroll down arrow to bring down the list. When the list comes down- chose the " Custom" option.

When you are done with setting your theme you will want to also check the square "Tile" box so that it will tile the image in your background for longer friends lists- then go to the bottom of the Main Window where you will want to click the " Apply " button.

After you have clicked the Apply button- the messenger will reset the theme to the theme you have chosen and will apply the buttons and the background.

When all is finnished click the " Ok" button at the bottom of the Main Window Page and your new theme will be in place.
