Meetings
This is a guide on how to run a pack meeting, should it ever fall to you to run one. Copy this by highlighting it, right clicking your mouse, and clicking copy. Then paste it into notepad by opening notepad, right clicking your mouse, and click paste. Now save it to your harddrive for later use. I will expect you to understand how to run a pack meet in the future, since I have sent you this document.
Meetings are when we handle all pack business: new assessments, initiations, promotions, demotions, banishments, policy changes, matehoods, courtships, breeding, adoptions, etc.
Typically, announcements are given first regarding anything that has happened in the past week or will be happening soon. Then, we handle business as different wolves arrive. We do the initiations when the initiates arrive, promotions when the promotees arrive, courtships with the courts arrive, etc. If none of the wolves that are part of the scheduled events have arrived yet, we handle policy changes and such. If someone doesn't show up, the event concerning them is put off until the following week. If someone has to leave ASAP, do their event first. At some point, you ask if any wolves wish to enter assessment and grant it to them if they do. At the end of the pack meeting, you ask if anyone has any questions, suggestions, concerns, etc. Then you adjourn the meeting and arrange a pack hunt by order of rank.
New Assessments:
You say, "Does anyone wish to enter assessment tonight?"
The wolf wishing to be an assessment responds.
You pronounce them (name), Assessment Silver Mist.
Everyone howls.
Initiations:
You call the wolves forward and ask if they still wish to join.
If they respond yes, you ask them why they wish to join.
Then you designate a task for them to perform. You may call on the pack for suggestions.
If the pack decides on a spar, call time after you feel they have proven themselves.
Then swear them in with the Initiate oath (which will be provided later in a document with all pack Oaths).
If they have completed training or have chosen a rank for which no training is required, swear them into their rank. Then pronounce them (name), (rank) Silver Mist
If they are starting training, just ask them if they still intend to train for that rank. Then pronounce them (name), Training (rank) Silver Mist.
Everyone howls.
Promotions:
You call the wolves forward and inform them that they have been nominated for a promotion. Ask if they accept the promotion.
If they respond yes, ask the pack if anyone has any problems with the wolf training for this new rank. If there are objections, remember: Majority rules.
Then you pronounce that wolf (Name) Training (Rank) Silver Mist
In the case that a wolf's training is completed, you inform the pack of this fact and swear the promoted wolf into their rank. Then you pronounce them (name), (rank) Silver Mist.
Demotions:
You call the wolves forward and inform them that it has been suggested that they be demoted.
You inform them of the reason for the demotion as politely as possible.
You tell them what rank they are being demoted to.
If they accept the demotion, pronounce them (name), (new rank) Silver Mist until such time as they are promoted again.
Banishments:
You call the wolves forward and inform them of the "charges" against them.
Let the "victims" speak, and then let the wolf in question speak to defend himself.
The pack then votes on whether or not to ban them, whether the ban is temporary or permament, OOC or IC (meaning all chars or just one, AKICKed or just chased out in RP on entry), and what rooms they are banned from.
Policy Changes:
You tell the pack of the suggested policy change.
You list the pros and cons, then you let them discuss it.
Start with a basic point, then change it as the pack discusses. They may adopt the change with conditions. Whatever the pack agrees on, add to the policy change.
Then, at last, you present the completed policy change to the pack for approval. Majority rules in voting.
Matehood Ceremonies:
Call the two courting wolves forward and ask if they still intend to become mates.
Then ask all present if they have any objections. Majority rules again.
Now, give the male the oath. Then give the female the oath.
Ask the pair if they have brought tokens of their love to exchange.
Let the male give his token to his she-wolf and speak any words he has to say to her.
Then let the female give the male her token and speak any words she has to say.
Then pronounce them mates, let them nuzzle and lick, and howl in celebration.
Courting Ceremonies:
Call the two wolves who wish to court forward, and ask if they both wish to begin courting.
Ask if anyone objects. Majority rules.
Then pronounce them courting partners.
Breeding:
Review the set order for mating. If there is room for more wolves to breed and they are mates, you may grant them permission to breed, but specify the time. Otherwise, inform them they must wait until next season.
(Remember, only 2 females may be pregnant at one time, gestation lasts 2 months, and the mating season is only 6 months long... meaning only 6 pairs can breed per season)
Adoptions:
Ensure the mother, father, and pup all agree on the adoption.
Ensure the mother and father are of age to adopt.
There is a waiting period of one month to become the legal parent of a pup. During that month, the pup is simply their ward.
If a wolf is not of age, the pup is their ward until they are of age to adopt.
