Weekly world news, one of the most weirdest tabloids ever (seriouslly, at least 80% of the stuff in there is fake), puts two pages of facts in their magazine every every week, here are a few that I found.


  • If a praying mantis is quick, it will catch and consume a hummingbird. (How big are those? And how small is the praying mantis?)
  • Of 33 deaths by dog attacks in the US, pitbulls were responsible for 27. (And everyone wonders why I'm scared of dogs...)
  • Tyra Banks was the first black woman to appear on Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue.
  • The Sahara Desert compromises an area as large as Europe.
  • A violin contains 70 separate pieces of wood.
  • There are more than 10 million bricks in the Empire State Building.
  • Aww...More then 10 thousand birds die a year from smashing into windows. (Bad memories of my cats catching the stunned birds...)
  • Your heart beats 3 billion times in an average lifetime.
  • Beaver's teeth is so sharp, it was once used as knife blades by some native american tribes.
  • M&M stands for Mars and Murrie, the surnames of the men who created the chocolate treats in 1941.
  • A lumberjack named Andrew Jergens invented Jergens Lotions in 1881 (Thats where that stuff came from??? Maybe being a lumberjack gave him rough hands and he needed to soften them up ;) Or for other reasons...*grins*)
  • In the 1500's to the 1700's, doctors prescribed tobacco as a cure for bad breath. (ok...thats just dumb)
  • Cranberries, blueberries, and Concord grapes are the only fruits native to North America. (whoo hoo! something about Canadians!)
  • Peanuts aren't nuts...they are beans. (uh...why aren't they called peabeans, or something then? lol)
  • Attilla the hun, who ate two of his sons, died of a nosebleed on his wedding night. (ouch....I wonder if he got a chance to get lucky?)
  • Horror film director Micheal Findlay died when he was decapitated by a helicopter blade in 1977.
  • Despite the rumour, Jayne Mansfield was not decapitated in her fatal car crash in 1967. The rumour started when her wig fell off.
  • Lmfao...The hypodermic needle was invented in 1853 in belief that it would prevent morphine addiction. The doctors believed that it wouldn't be addictive if it bypassed the digestive tract.
  • Root beer was in invented in 1898 by Edward Adolf Barg. (Is he the guy who invented Barq's root beer? Barq's has bite!)
  • FBI agents couldn't carry guns until 26 years after the agency was established.
  • Male monkey's go bald just like human men.
  • The 'you are here' arrow on maps is called the 'ideo locator'. (lol)
  • South Dakota has the only state bird from Asia, the ring necked pheasant.
  • Brontolotgy is the study of thunder.
  • Cat's can't move their jaws sideways.
  • Researches have found out that a chimpanzee can learn to recognize itself in a mirror, but a monkey can't.
  • One ragweed plant can release as many as one billion grains of pollen. (sniffle, sniffle...achoo!)
  • Leslie Howard died in 1943 when a German fighter plane shot down the civillian airliner he was riding in, from Lisbon to London. He had recently finished filming a movie, in which he portrayed R.J. Mitchell, the man who designed the British Spitfire fighter plane.
  • The Eiffel Tower is 984 feet high.
  • A chameleon's tongue is twice the length of its body...(oi *wink wink*...lol)
