A doll painting tutorial .
its not very well put togeather but maybe i can add better pictures and decriptions later on.

supplies i use
size 0 Testor synthetic brush found in the model car isles at WM and craft stores.
it is the light wood handle brush in the pic.

the dark wood handle brush is a  small square shader , I use it  to pick up  boo boo's it is kept dry and sometimes ill dip it in  nail polish remover  then touch it to a paper towel so it doesnt
drip on my doll while I clean up messy spots in the painting. You can use cotton swaps  with most of the cotton pulled off one end then roll the cotton left on it around it and it can be used to pick up messy painted areas.

I usually keep an extra new brush incase the one im using goes haywire on me, you can use old brushes for applying eye shadow or the whites of the eyes as long as it isnt too worn out.
I reseve my newest brushes for doing eye lashes and brows.

after you have removed your base dolls original paint with acetone free polish remover wash her face with water and bakeing soda to get off any residue.

See in the picture on the right how i drag off excess paint onto the edge of my plate. here i am preparing my paint brush for doing eye shadow it must be thin  and your brush must be some what dry  you only want a film of paint and you can get more debth by simply building up layers of thin paint.
first step in painting the eye is to put about 3 thin layers of white or slightly off white paint for the whites of the eyes.
I then use my thinner eye shadowing paint to paint on a shadow for the eyelid line and eye brow I also line the outer rim of my eyes, and i add in the paler fleshy pink color for the lower eye lid and tear duct area, this helps me judge that the eyes are even to each other before i put on any darker colors.  once my eyes look nice and even I then paint in the irises putting again about 3  thin layers of paint.
You can see in this picture on the right how i left just a trace of the dolls eye tear duct area this helps me place her eyes evenly when applying the layers of white for the eyes
In this picture you can see thin layer of blue eye shadow and  some darker brown shadows for debth , building up debth with layers of  thin paint
at this point Im begining to paint in the black pupils of her eyes and paint in her eye brows and eyelashes, this paint is NOT as thin as what is used for the eye shadow .
Here im am getting ready to add grey  shadows to the whites in her eyes, for this you need even thinner  black paint and it is most important to drag off and( pull off onto a paper towel ,see pic below ) excess paint as you want to just lightly color the area around her tear duct and outer edge of her eyes this gives the eye a round natural look
okey, know im adding pale blue swirls to her blue irises  for a dreamy look to her eyes.
Then I add tiny white dots  in her pupil and under her eye ,i like this look alot.
See on the pic on far right im begining to line her lips with black  paint thinned to about the same as shadow paint
I then filled in her lips with the thinned blue paint  about 4 thin layer over all to get a nice smooth look
Take a look at my pallate below  see how much i had thinned my paint  and dragged off my brush.
