Week of May 26, 2002
Lesse.. last week...
I gots a yearbookies. =) I had everybody that I could get to sign it to
sign it, and at least write a few sentences in it. Though there was this
one guy I practically had to torture with a mechanical pencil before he
actually wrote something.. OY males are stubborn. He was the ONLY person
in my entire yearbook-signing thing who only signed his name! (fumes) Ah
well, no one was hurt and I got my way. (innocent smile) I'm rather
bullheaded, sometimes.
All the tests didn't have much to distinguish them. Chem was a tad hard,
I'm crossing my fingers for a good grade. Algebra II, on the other hand..
I wash my hands of it. XD I leave my grade up to the gods. (looks up)
PLEEEEEEEEEASE let it be good... Animal Science was a pushover,
World History stupidly easy.
Example. Real, true example from the test:
What is the Principal of Amarillo High School?
a. Mr. Phillips
b. Mrs. Jameson (my teacher)
c. Mr. Thomas
d. Mr. Loomis
Puh-leeease! ^-^ English was okay, I guess.. I don't do well at essays.
Huked Om Phonix dint wurc fer Sheshca, no shiree.
I also have a hard time focusing on one thing and ordering my thoughts so
I go off on tangents about random stuff and loose track of the original
topic and What was I talking about again?
Spanish II was LONG. 200 questions! But she let us make notecards, and I
put all of the tenses we had learned on it. Plus some rules about
attaching direct & indirect objects, formal & familiar
imperatives, accent marks, etc. So I did pretty well, I think. And Choir -
didn't have a test. =) I love Mr. Swenn. But I found out what I'm gonna be
in next year - Bel Canto (sp?)! Second Soprano, though. (insulted) I can
sing high, thankyouverymuch! But Ms. Heinrichs said she needed strong
sight-readers and singers in there.. hopefully I'll get into First Soprano
next year. Second isn't my thing, I get really faint when singing in the
middle part of my voice. Alto I can do, crack glass in First I can do,
middle I stink. ^.^;;
Aaand.. that was my week, and my first entry. I talk too much...
Week of June 2, 2002
Da ha ha. The house is
mine, and mine alone.. Practically everyone is gone on a trip ('cept dad,
but he works) so I have the house to myself for almost the entire day.
YIPPEEE!
What? I like solitude. I can surf & read & draw without anyone
bothering me, which happens a lot when everyone's home.
(mimes hugging the computer and fending off relatives)
NO! Back, I say! It's MINE, Y'HEAR?!
See how horrible it gets? Oy! There IS another computer you could use,
sister dearest, thankyew..
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, this is supposed to be about my week.
(covers up the last few paragraphs)
*COUGH* Yes. Well.
This week is the first week of summer vacation! My yearbook is chock full
of stuff & people's numbers (why do they give them to me when I won't
use them?), and I'm studiously ignoring the fact that Summer School starts
in a week. (cries) I have three major things I'm enrolled in this summer:
Summer School (P.E. and Speech), Driver's Ed, and some sorta PSAT Summer
Acadamy. Oh, then guess what? We're driving to Utah!
So, ya. Busy summer for Ses. But at least for this week I'll have some
amount of solitude. 3 family members gone for 3 days, then back.
Hopefully, then we'll drive up to Colorado to help my Aunt Katie with her
fledgling Bed & Breakfast get going.. so I have to do some good work
to help. Why does Sesca want to do this, you wonder?
I'M GETTIN' PAID!
My mom hasn't decided whether to pay on a hourly or daily schedule. If it
was hourly, it'd be prolly $4 per hour. If it was daily, it'd be about $50
dollers per day. Yeee! I could buy a lot of art supplies with that!
Yesh, Sesca needs art supplies, most specifically markers. I wanna get
some good grey markers to use on my comic I'm working on. =) Pencil &
shading just doesn't work well enough. Once I scan it in & lighten it,
the pencil can hardly be seen. Plus, black text with grey everything else
is kinda strange, no? So I'm gonna get me some markers and I WILL USE
THEM NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY ARE. (huff) Ink and markers will be much
better.
But for this week? So far, all I've really done is look at lotsa comics to
get tips & inspiration.
Week of June 9, 2002
Well, Sesca is now richer. ^o^
I volunteered to help my mom work on my Aunt Katie's fledgling Bed &
Breakfast in Colorado, out of the goodness of my heart (the fact she paid
me kinda helped too ^_-). Now I am $100 dollars richer. And hoarding it
all. It's not normal for me to have this much! I'm trying to be smart, so
I'm saving half of it and I'm gonna spend the rest. XD Mainly on those
markers & some new inking pens.. ART SUPPLIES!! Wheee!
My mom had one of her old Prismacolor markers laying around the house, and
I tried it out.. spiffy beyond belief. O.O You know how ordinary markers
get that line where you overlap 'em? Prismacolors don't do that! No wonder
artisty people like them so much!
Oh, and by the way.. Summer School starts tomorrow. (dies)
Week of June 16, 2002
DANG.
Dangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdangdang.
(cries) Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays..
Oh, well. At least I got the best kind of pens from Michael's, that spiffy
supply/fabric/crafts store. ^_^ Hobby Lobby only has this cheap kind. But
Michael's only has Prismacolor markers in a box-set, and not even any grey
ones. (pout) So I will get them tomorrow.. But tomorrow is the start of
the unmentionable.
PSAT Summer Academy! (scary music)
I know I signed up for it.. but good freaking gracious! Here's a peek at
my schedule:
9:25 - 12:30: Summer School
lunch
1:00 (1:30?)- 3:00 (3:30?): PSAT Summer Academy
free time & dinner
7:00 - 9:00: Driver's ED
Yeeeeeesh.. busiest summer I've ever had. At least Driver's ED and the
PSAT thing don't last that long...
And then we're going to Utah! My favorite place to visit. XD My
grandfather & step-grandmother & uncle are really nice there.. And
my uncle's only one year younger than I am! So there's actually a person
my age around to do stuff with. And Uncle Ian's so spoiled! All my other
cousins on Dad's side say so. ^_^ He's got so much STUFF it's amazing. O.o;;
Ooo, and something else happened. I signed up for Keenspace.com! It's an
online comic hoster, and I'm gonna put my Kade comic thing up there. It
takes several weeks for them to get my site ready, so I'll have time to
get out more pages. I'm only on the third one now.. ^_^;;
Week of June 23, 2002
(CHEERS)
Yaaay! Sesca finished Slayers! 'Tis such a spiffy show.. I can already
feel myself being turned into a fangirl. =) 'Specially of Xelloss and
Zelgadis, even though Xelloss isn't introduced until Slayers Next! (lol)
Yesh, Sesca has to go online and find out every single freaking thing
about a show she watches. And download all the music videos she can. O.o I
already know all the plots of the shows, and could obtain detailed
summaries of each episode.. but I don't. I don't want to spoil myself, I
only want to know the basics. ^_^
On the other hand, I'm gonna get out of PE for the rest of the summer.
Yesh, our coach is wonderful and is going to let us take a competency test
to get out, even if we aren't retaking the course. Ain't he wunnerful? (HUGZ
to the coachie!) The test is easy, to boot!
I've also been busy coloring stuff. It's weird - I'll have several weeks
of major drawing, then I'll lose that compulsion totally and start to
color majorly. O.o This is just my coloring week. But the funny thing is
I'm doodling too. Stuff that I really don't mean to color officially, just
little chicken scratchings. I do it everywhere, the most when I'm bored
and have nothing else to do. If I'm bored at home, that doesn't count. I
have to be at school (or someplace where I can do nothing else to occupy
my time) to need to draw. I did this really pretty drawing, too, in
Driver's ED. ^_^ And I also added 6 chibis to go along with it. And in my
coloring, I colored a pic so well I surprised myself. ^_^;; I just found
the Lightness Up/Lightness Down things on the Retouch tool, and lemme tell
you they're abso-freaking-lutely a necessity for shading. Like layers are
a necessity for coloring. EE! This'll cut my shading time in half, mebbe
more! (rejoices)
I'm also back in my church's choir, after a 3-week-long absence. I didn't
mean too! (wails) The funny thing is, we didn't sing. Except for the
hymns, of course. And we're not going to sing next week either. (shrugs)
Instead, this week Roland played a beautiful piano solo.. REALLY REALLY
pretty!
TTFN.
Week of July 7, 2002
(chants) One more day of Driver's Ed.
One more day of Driver's Ed.
One more day of Driver's Ed.
One more day of Driver's Ed.
One more day of Driver's Ed.
One more day of Driver's Ed.
Yay! If you can't tell, there's only one more day left, and then I'm
freeeeee of Driver's Ed! Then the driving part starts.. let's not get into
that. >_< (CKC, I have no idea how you manage to drive a manual
transmission.)
Yeah, I'm worried about getting onto streets. My dad took me out to the
parking lots of Westgate Mall early on Sunday, so there wouldn't be many
people, and I just about freaked. Heck, I don't need to know how to drive!
Do I have a car?
NO.
Do I need to drive places?
NO. I've got my mom to do that for me. =)
Do I LIKE driving?
GOOD-FREAKING-GRACIOUS NO.
(whimper)
I dread the day I drive with the instructers.. >_<
Anyhoo. On a happier note. =)
I'm officially out of PE! Which means I have more free time between Summer
School and the Academy. Also, there's only one more week of that, so I'll
soon have more free time. (rejoices)
I mean, more than I already have. ^.^;;
I've started Slayers Next (dragon cuisine! dragon cuisine!) and I
absolutely love it. Although I must admit Zelgadis' character has changed
a lot. O.o Suddenly, he's more outgoing and easily embarrassed, and also a
lot less serious. The show makes fun of him so much. ^_^ (Since he's part
stone and immediately sinks in water, the rest of the group often uses him
as a ship anchor. XD ) I can't wait until Demon-Dragon-whatever Gaav and
Hellmaster Phibrizzo are introduced. ^o^ I've never even heard Phibrizzo's
voice, and yet I know I'm going to love his character. And Gaav's spiffy..
and fun to make fun of. Kareoke, anyone? ^_~ A pity Phibrizzo's only on
the scene for 7 episodes. (sigh)
I also borrowed (yet) another game from Denise - Tail Concerto. It's a
really easy, really short action game, and it's really cute. I got stuck
on one part though.. it killed me 13 times! O.O But I eventually beat it.
Funny thing is, it's harder getting TO the boss than defeating it. O.o
Funky.
That's all, I think.. for now. More updates on the driving thing later.
Fear me.
July
Done with summer school, Drivers Ed, AND that academy! Speech was hard
to finish, tho. O.O Two major projects to finish in less than a week! I
had to take part in a 6-8 minute panel discussion on Japanese culture, and
then write a big childrens book with color pictures. At least
they were both fun! Japanese culture is spiffy; my group ended up taking
12 minutes, when the maximum was 8 minutes. O.o But the teacher said it
was okay, cause our discussion was really good. And guess what? I got
do put makeup on the most GUY-ish guy in the class to make him look like a
geisha (a very makeup-py girl trained in the arts of tea-making,
conversation, entertaining, etc.)! Lots of fun, he looked hilarious. ^_^
The PSAT Academy was a disappointment, I think. I dont believe my
test-taking ability has gone up any. In fact, it may have gone down a
little! Oh, well. At least I drew a lot, and mom has even agreed to let me
cut out the drawings so I can scan them. ^_^
Drivers Ed... ugh... at least the most boring part is over. Now I have
to finish 7 hours of driving and observing each. >_<;; Im not
confident about my skills at all! I think Ill be a very defensive
driver. Heck, thats what they teach us, right? .;; Yes.
Im also going to apply for a different gallery type in Elfwood. I think
Allie (Alexa, actually, shes changing her name. But I cant
remember!) is going to apply, too. I hope her pics are fantasy-ish enough
to be accepted. ^_^ Mine certainly werent! But I think theyll be
accepted in a different-themed gallery.
Basically, Elfwood has 4 things:
Lolothrien (medieval fantasy stuff)
Zone47 (science fiction stuff)
Fanquarter (fan-art stuff duh)
Wyverns Library or something like that. (original fantasy fiction
stuff)
My drawings werent accepted in Zone47 because they werent science
fiction-ish enough. Yeesh, whats up with that? The entire keeping
the material strictly fantasy and science fiction thing is why I
dont like Elfwood as much as I do Side7. Side7 has no genre rules.
Anyhoo.
Yellowstone Vacation
Yay, vacation! Up to Utah, too. One of my favorite places to visit, since
Grandpa is so nice and Uncle Ian is interested in anime/manga. ^_^ A pity
we only stayed in Ogden, Utah for two days.. Not much to do there. A lot
like Amarillo, actually.
But Im getting ahead of myself. We didnt immediately transport to
Utah, we had to drive there first! And the driving part did take quite a
while: 3 days. The first day, we drove up to Grand Lake to drop off our
doggies and check out the finished Bed & Breakfast my aunt has started
to run. Man, was it pretty! The house is originally from the 1920s, and
Aunt Katie added a deck, spiffed up the bathrooms, and modernized the
kitchen. Very, very nice! We stayed the night there.
The second day, we drove a lot. Then stopped in Vernal and slept. ^-^ Not
much action there! Better was the 3rd day, when we checked out Vernals
dinosaur quarry. We also stopped at a historic fort (Dad loves that sort
of stuff). And, after many stoppages, we finally arrived in Ogden around
8- or 9-ish their time. Stayed up a little greeting various relatives,
then headed off to sleep.
We didnt do much in Ogden. Allie (Alexa) and I tackled Ians newest
game, some sorta James Bond thing. We were best at the driving games
wrecking cities is fun!
After that fun day, we headed off for West Yellowstone, in Wyoming. We
stopped about halfway for the traditional family brunch in a specific
restaurant. After that, our families split up to get to Yellowstone our
own ways. Not much happened on the drive up there, but arriving was fun.
Allie (ALEXA!) and I got our own two-bed room next to Andy and Ian
(spiffy! ^_^). West Yellowstone was your typical tourist town: lots of
souvenir shops and very little interesting stuff. Once youve seen one
souvenir shop, youve seen them all. (Although I must agree the Harley
Davidson biker-themed one was quite interesting. ^-^;;)
First in Yellowstone Park, we visited the Porcelain Basin. O.O SPIFFINESS!
Gigantic, white place with lots of thermal things. Lots of colorful algae,
hot springs, mini-geysers, and vents. The only drawback was the place
STUNK of SULFUR, and it was very, very hot. Im talking a difference of
about 10 degrees in temperature! I wore a jacket before, and I was hot
& muggy after visiting.
After that was forest and such, and trails down the Canyon. The sights
were good, the trails and staircases down to the sights werent as good.
I went down two trails in one day and was exhausted at the end of the
second. Wont do THAT again.. my legs ache at the thought. ^_^;;
After that was the geysers and Yellowstone Lodge. Wow.. that place is
impressive. Look up and up and up.. about 5 stories! The only not-fun part
was not being able to go up to the Crows Nest at the top because
of damage to the supports in a huge earthquake. And we saw Old Faithful go
off at least 3 times! Also, another geyser spouted off about 9 hours
early. We were right near it, so we got to play in the mist. I got soaking
wet thankfully, the water didnt smell like sulfur. You smell a lot
of sulfur at Yellowstone. >_<
We also caught at the Riverside geyser it looks like a face, I
swear! Tho, I was tired from the day before (legs.. ache..) and sat for a
while and watched the geyser before joining up with everyone else to walk
around and look at stuff. We went off the beaten (okay, paved..) path to
check out a spiffy spring that had the word black in its name..
dont remember it specifically.
Finally, we checked out the Mammoth Hot springs on our last day. The
spiffiness! O.O Very, very cool. Terraced, like the rice farms in Japan
and China (I think). The old parts of the spring (the direction of the
flow changes sometimes) were this pure white, and really nice in the sun.
Then we stopped off to get lunch before heading back for Denver. It took a
day to get there (we stopped at a motel the beds were ROCK HARD), but
we finally arrived and picked up our dogs once again. We spent the night
in Denver. Then it was back to Amarillo we went!
August, September, to October 20,
2002
.....
LOL.
Not much has happened. School, mainly, although I have a few cool projects
(due in either 2 days or 4 days.. ugh.. ) to do. The coolest is a
pumpkin-launching project we're doing in Physics. Only problem is, it's
due in 2 days and we haven't even built our launcher yet. >_<
Yeah.. Other than that, nada. O.o Sorry to be such a
bore. . . Week of October 27, 2002 The
most notable things that happened this week were the mass due-age of big
projects. O.o;; Two, and half of another! It's inhumane!
Anyhoo, I did okay on my History project (stayed up until 3 doing it - got
3 hours of sleep) and I made a 25 out of 25 on my pumpkin projectile
project (YEEEE! Practically the only one in the class!). Funny thing is,
everyone else was making the gamut of 16 to 24 with their fancy-shmancy
air-powered cannons/trebouchets/catapults that they spent weeks on, while
my team made a little slingshot out of home materials (boards, plastic
table, rubber tubing, ratchet, rope) and made a perfect score. Ironic, no?
^_^
And my Pre-Calculus teacher, who is also in Engineering Physics, made his
own launcher (very impressive, the biggest one) that barely worked. In the
morning classes, his launcher launched two pumkins: one went straight up
then came straight down with a nice SPLAT, and one that also SPLAT-ted a
few feet away from the launcher. He finally got it to work in the
afternoon classes.
The only downside to all this pumkin-launching fun? It was COLD! FREEZING!
That 'tis all for now. =) There's
not much to say 'til X-mas, so I'll skip until then.
December- Jan. 7
Well, I saved a tad bit of money from the horror that is present shopping!
And I got everyone's present to them on time. (Meaning - before X-mas eve,
even tho CKC's was a tad close! She was a few hours from leaving!)
I even got everything I wanted, save the new Gradia X game (I got Suikoden
instead, which is spiffy but hard). And guess what dearest sister got?
Kingdom Hearts! We've both been addicted to it since X-mas day... vacation
was practically a game-a-thon. Mother had to forcibly kick us out of the
house so we'd get some exercise and stop competing over the Playstation!
=)
Also, my church youth group went on a ski trip to Colorado! I was lucky,
the place had the exact kind of trail I like. And believe me, I'm picky as
heck. But when I like something, I love it! I went on that trip so much
that my legs still ache a little... guess I over did it. ^_^;;
And alas, school has started up again. Time to stop typing and get back to
homework! Poor me.. (flops off) |
