Trip to Cork, 10-11 May 2003
So I decided to go to Cork for the weekend. Not a bad plan I thought in the beginning, though there was also a Medieval Festival going on in Dublin. As I already had my ticket, I chose Cork...
I heard and read everywhere that there's a really nice food market in Cork every weekend. So of course I had to go there first. And nice it was! Mmm, yummy... Loads of different breads, fish (such a shame I just can't cook it) and olives and evrything! :o) Of course I had to buy a yummy Brie sandwhich for lunch... ;o)
Across the Tourist Office there is a small park. Unfortunately packed w youth who don't know how to spend their weekends with something useful, so I didn't really spend much time here.
This is a statue in the little park. I don't actually remember from whom though...
They'd gotten some church top down and were refurbishing it. The top looked really nice already I thought...
Blarney Castle @ full view
I saw this house right before entering Blarney Castle, IT'S PURPLE! :o)))
View over Blarney park
The Blarney Stone. Kiss it and you'll be able to tell lies for 7 years.Or don't get sick for 7 years or something similar. There are a lot of stories about it...
Of course I had to do it. Only thing is, you have to do it upside down, v scary...

I continued walking through the enchanted area...
A Witch at the Witch's Stone! :o)
It's said you can find Elves and Fairies here...

This river is apparently very famous, but can't remember the name...
After Blarney Castle, I went to Bandon, a small town somwhere near Cork. It took an hour by bus, in the country side that's a lot...
One last pic of Blarney Castle...

Me in Bandon. Now I know why it's called that, It's ABANDONED! Hahahaha...
The view over Bandon from their not quite only church. Hey it IS Ireland...
Michael showed me the church and the graveyard. I always think the tombstones look really nice. An old guy looked at me quite weird when he saw me taking this picture...
This is Michael and his mom whom I met up with in Bandon, near Cork
After I had been dropped off by the bus driver, I walked towards the Gaol. Luckily there were road signs... I could really see I was in Ireland...
I walked down the street some more and saw this other tiny church... Isn't it cute?
The next morning, I decided to visit Cok Gaol. As I walked down the street towards the bus station I came across this church. I thought it looked quite nice...
The way up to the Gaol was very steep, but I passed these cute houses...
Inside Cork Gaol. I got a head set and a walkman and was guided through the entire jail that way. It was really interesting!

Another angle from Cork Gaol.
It had been raining a lot and when I left Cork, it was extremely grey once again... I heard Dublin had been quite sunny that weekend... *sniff*
