Lovely and yet frightening, this clan thinks of themselves as the end all be all of what it means to be a Canite. Firm believers in absolute rule of those superior and in divine rights, they show little patience and to an extent, pity tinged with remorse for those they deem beneath them.
I know little about them really, except from what I've seen and what a few of my fellow Cainites managed to tell me. None of it terribly favourable, I am afraid. I can't think of anything worse then a shadow weaver with a penchant for Godhood. They may remain in the shadows to take care of what needs doing, thinking they are the only ones capable of ruling wisely, but they would be wrong. I have my eye out on one clan who seems to know what they are doing, and are working hard towards their goals.
Lasombra are a fine mixture of altruistic nobility and contempt. Power is all they crave and they strive nightly to obtain it, no matter where the power lies. Oddly enough, they do not seek the titles that go along with the rule they so hunger for. Rather, they prefer to stay in the shadows. In their eyes, they must take everything in a firm hand, because no one else can hold or rule like they can. What matters most are the decisions made; the outter appearance of power means little.
Keeping pace with this obsession, driven to be the final say in all matters concerning power, the clan spurns all those they feel are inferior to them in all matters. To them, the rest of Cainite society are simpletons and to be lead like the kine in all things. So, in a sense, no other Cainite will be on even keel with the Lasombra. They only have equals or betters among themselves. What can a Ventrue do that a Lasombra cannot do better and make it last longer. They have allies among the other clans, often times calling many a Canitite friend, but always lingering in the backs of their minds is that these men and woman will never be equal to them... ever.
While the game of politics is played nightly, they find themselves tied to everything but the game itself. Rather, they see all of Europe as a huge chessboard, and those who dwell there, are its pieces. Their major interest has always been why a kingdom has fallen into such disrepair. Among other things, given their ways and frightening powers they are feared, loathed but highly respected. They have done what other clans cannot do: manipulate the world and those in it.
They perhaps should focus on the Ventrue; that clan has managed to make manipulation a true art form, the layers of lies and deceptions they weave could rattle the mind of any Cainite. It makes the Malkavians look as sane as you or I.
