There are very few Cainites who will ever give a Follower of Set sanctuary, let alone hospitality, and for good reasons. The Setites serve darkness and corrupt anything without cause or care; it�s their way. Their goal at this time is to strip away the vestiges of ethics and right from wrong. This way they get an endless supply of supplicants to serve them and their Dark god, Set.
I don't know if I can consider Set a God, or just a very lucky man. How he came to be what he is still remains a mystery to me. Trying to pry the information out of a Follower of Set is like trying to sooth a rabid dog. Don't try to enter into a bargain with one of these snakes, it's never pretty.
Legends name Set, or Sutekh, as the clan�s founder. In ancient Egypt, or so they say, Set was a great warrior and hunter. He hounded the desert nights like a beast and became worshipped by mortals as the god of night. He welcomed such worship and enjoyed the respect of his fellow Cainites. But as with most Cainites after a time he was cast out. Now it gets a little confusing. Some say it was in fact Osiris that banished Set, while many others will enter the vocal debate and name Horus as the one who banished the Dark God. No matter which tale is correct one thing is known for sure; Set swore he�d regain what was lost and reestablish his rule, but from within the folds of darkness. As he left, his children dutifully followed behind him.
When Set vanished, he left promising his return to his followers. Thus the Setites began to reshape the world for their dark lord's return. So far everything is going according to their want and whim. They approve whole-heartedly about disease that runs rampant, over the power shifting between the kine and kindred alike and of course the wealth angle. If it works in their favor they are all for it. The worse off the populous is, the better off the Setite feels.
Setites move in deceitful circles, slinking from place to place, shadow-to-shadow all in the name of corruption and Set. The best way for them to corrupt a subject is to give him what he wants, what he desires, then sit back and watch lust and want fester and create the desired effect. That�s how they sink their fangs into you. They encourage all manner of things and that their members should enjoy all that life has to offer no matter how dark or shocking it is. To indulge is to sink even further into their hands.
Setites are religious zealots; they will do anything in Set's name, much like the Christians who toppled many cities in the name of God. Some Cainites believe they are far worse then even the Tzimisce! Pity the kine caught in the sweet scented snare of a Follower of Set if such things are true.
