| Crypt Orchid A group exhibition of Goth art Sponsored by Dr Martens Artists from Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra have come together to present Crypt Orchid - an exhibition of paintings, photography, digital art, collage and sculpture from Australias Gothic sub-culture. Crypt Orchid, curated by Mark S. Holsworth, presents a wide-cross section of old and new school Gothic art. Many of the artists have exhibited their work in previous shows, or had their work published in Goth Nation magazine. Like an orchid growing in a crypt, the exhibition evokes the surreal, the dark and the fantastic. While not attempting to define the genre, the exhibition will provide an insight into its imagination. Building on two decades of Goth sub-culture, particularly in Melbourne, the exhibition aims to expand insight and inspiration from the scenes fashion and music to the visual arts. Artists exhibiting include Danielle Akayan, Aneta Bozic, Lady Hannah Cadaver, Tim Harris, Mark S. Holsworth, Josella Rye, Elizabeth Sears, Shane Sutton and Xtian. Artholes Gallery 128 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy 3065 Tues-Sat 10.00 to 5.00, Sun 12.00 to 5.00 19th Sept - 1st Oct. 2003 For more information and images www.geocities.com/gothexhibition or contact Mark Holsworth at [email protected] or (03) 9383 5375 |
