GOTHAM
WEEKLY NEWS #84
Friday 11th
June 1999
*************************************************************
WELCOME
==========
I've spent most of the past week on aircraft travelling
around the States with the day job, so haven't had too much time for news
gathering. As a result this week's GOTHAM WEEKLY NEWS is a little briefer than
usual.
Hopefully that won't mar your enjoyment and you'll still
find plenty of news and information below.
As always, have a great week.

The mini-series based on the stylish new animated series

whose inky- black form changes at will. She's on a mission to steal top-secret
data, but there's more to her plan than meets the eye. Pieces of her body left
behind at the scene exhibit strange behavior and could lead Batman to Inque or
to his own death, or both. The adventures of the future Batman continue in the
Batman Beyond ongoing series, coming this fall. ($1.99)

Introducing the new "World's Finest" team:
Superman and...Batgirl. In the dark canyons of Gotham City, a new warrior has
joined the Dark Knight. Now Superman crosses paths with the mysterious Batgirl,
as does another costumed denizen of Metropolis: the Thorn. Thorn is obsessed
with the Metropolis-based criminal organization called "The 100," and
now that cartel is making inroads into Gotham. It's Batman, Batgirl, Superman,
and Thorn on a collision course on the streets of Gotham City. ($1.99)

and Starman in their entirety, along with portions of the tie-in issues of

MOVIE NEWS

WORLD'S FINEST MOVIE ON -AGAIN ?
--------------------------
The latest issue (July) of Premiere ( The Movie magazine)
has a snippet in one of its columns that "Warner Bros. is salivating over
it's double-franchise dipping Batman Vs. Superman event. The codpieced Gotham dweller will be the bad
guy."
Comics2Film also reports that Harry Knowles of "Aint
It Cool News" fame dug up what appears to be independent confirmation of a
World's Finest movie while following up a Superman rumor.
"AICN's source in this is said to be "very very
reliable." The source claims that
the project is very hush-hush at Warner Bros. but it is being discussed. The project is said to be on the fast track,
albeit it is still in the preliminary stages.
The angle would have Superman and Batman as adversaries. The AICN
article suggests the movie could be targeted for a year 2000 or 2001
release. It would be in leiu of a Batman
5 and a Superman Lives. Warner execs are
allegedly hoping to jumpstart both franchises with this unprecedented movie
pairing."
